ice cream
Well I'm never an advocate of totally banning any group of foods from my diet for the rest of my life. I didn't touch ice cream or any other sugary-ish foods for at least 9 months post-op. I've slowly added some of the foods that I enjoyed before surgery back into my diet. It's all about MODERATION now for me. I know what makes me sick, I know how much I can eat and I know that I have made a commitment to myself to exercise on a daily basis for the rest of my life. With that said, I'm not going to deny myself anything but rather eat said food in MODERATION. I hate to beat the dead horse but the surgery is the TOOL that keeps the MODERATION in check. The exercise and moving around more part is up to the individual.
As far as sugar free ice creams go there are a variety of choices to choose from bu****ch the sugar alcohols. I dump on sugar alcohols but not from sugar. Go figure! :)
You're still in your honeymoon period though man. Stick to the diet as closely as you can right now so you can get the maximum weight loss during the first 6 months.

now the truth. for me s/f ice cream didn't work. it also didn't seem like a path down the dark side as i wasn't into ice cream anyway. but if it's an addiction then don't go there. so i got tired of the s/f pops and they didn't satisfy. so i get these low cal root beer floats. they are 50 calories. well, that's not so low cal but i don't eat the whole box. just a couple and they hit that sugar spot for me. i can eat them or leave them alone. however, i don't keep any chips in the house. that's my weakness. so if you are craving stuff that got you in trouble, follow the advice given thus far. go the other way and just learn to live without it or at the very least in moderation. i can do that with the pops but not other stuff. we all have our weakness and demons so i'm sure you know, beware! good luck.....carbonblob
