Troy, I eat the Dryer's Sugar Free and don't have a problem with it. I am 3 mos out and most sugars don't seem to bother me.

Frankly, I think it is too soon to start screwing around with success.  Why not just keep the blinders on for a few more months before looking for ways to get back to old habits?  I decided to actually try to change my eating habits and exercise habits for at least six months following the surgery and I have steadly and slowly lost weight.  I must admit that I never gave up coffee but with the knowledge that it is calorie free.  Hang in there.

Troy, dont go messing with something that aint broke.  Your doing well, it's too early to start falling back into old habits.  There will be plenty of time to work some of these things back into your diet.  For the time being, stick to the plan that has been working for you and keep up the good work.  It will all be worth it in the end.  Good luck. I wouldn't have a problem with dumping since I had a lap-band, but that would scare the heck out of me to even think about eating ice cream so soon after surgery. Not for the nutritional issues, but for what it says about my state of mind regarding post-surgery eating habits. I know I will eventually be able to enjoy most of the foods I did before surgery, although in smaller portions. But I gave myself very strict rules about certain things I will not do during the "honeymoon" period. Ice cream is on that list. So are fast-food places. I am going to wait for 6 months after surgery before I even think about trying those things again. This phase is crucial to long-term maintenance. Think of yourself as having diet training wheels. Your surgery gave you a tool that will help make it easier for you to eat right. But eventually, the usefulness of that tool diminishes and more responsibility will be placed on you to develop healthy eating habits. Use this period wisely!

Just don't try any from Scott's place!                  I'm with some of the others... Try to find stuff that has the Highest nutritional value For the lowest Calories. Getting back to "Eating Ice Cream" this early on, even if it's SF Is a great way to establish and support old "Norms" when it comes to eating. Some one once supported the eating of corny-dogs For a Gal on the mainboard using them as her "1st Solid food," Because the nutritional info showed them to have a good bit of protein. They were the "Morning-Star-Farms" Faux-Meat variety With about a 1 part protein to 3 parts Carbs ratio. My thought was this- Even if you are eating Spring-Water Poached Tilapia, dressing it up to look like a Corndog makes little sense, particularly for ‘first solid food.’  For folks who want to have less trouble maintaining weight loss, the first months (even first 1/2 year) are best served by establishing NEW Eating habits.  By eating any arrangement of Protein/Carbs/Fats in the guise of a ‘Corny-Dog’ only serves to re-enforce and continue habitual poor eating habits. I’m sure that with my Props-Artistry Skills, I could get a glob of UnJury Un-flavored protein into the shape and appearance of a ‘Double-Quarter-Pounder with Cheese”, and although it would be pure protein, what would be the point of re-kindling the “old love affair” with MacDonalds?  I’d recommend trying something new and interesting rather than “Comfort Food.”  Making a break from “Food as Comfort” and a transition to “Food as Fuel” is what really seems to be the benefit of WLS.   Just my opinion……. (and I'm serious about "no ice cream from Scott W!) Best Wishes- Dx

I agree. Be careful hitting Ice Cream--even sugar free. We all know that sugar is addictive. But even going back to familiar, comforting foods early on can lead us down the wrong path. That said, however, if you MUST have Ice Cream, search for a Carbolite dealer. It's  soft serve & comes in several flavors. 9 cals, 0 fat, 0 sugar, 0 lactose & 4 gms of protein per ounce. It's hard to find but worth it. There is also a product that called Absolutely Free that's not bad. That can be had in a few supermarket chains. Just remember sugar alcohols can cause some problems too. Good luck & stay well. Jay

I eat sugar free popsicles and fat free fudgesicles. They do the trick, and are not bad at all.  Ice cream isnt worth it anymore.  Why even have this sugery if you dont want to change your eating habits.  Might seem a bit harsh, but its reality.
