Size 42 suit == 10 months post VSG
While there are not many of those who post who had a vertical sleeve gastrectomy, for those interested tomorrow I am 10 months post op and have gone from a size 50 suit to a size 42. This the result of a weight loss of 82 pounds. I am not sure what to expect and if there are long term men who have had the VSG, please let me know what I should expect for the next 6 months or year. Thanks
Jesse,
I seem to remember a few other guys on this board in the past with a VSG.
Congratulations on your Loss!
Keep it Up!
(I do know a very successful VSG'er on my other Board- )

I'd think if you keep up your present
New eating habits and get in exercise now that it must be much easier,
You'll keep riding your success!
Best Wishes-

I started at 280 lbs and today is the 10 month post op date. I was very tired for two weeks but have had no problems. At the beginning you can eat almost nothing but about a month out things get better. Start with pudding, jello, soup and add graham crackers, chicken salad, cheese slowly. Think like you are going to feed a 4 year old. The feeling of hunger will no longer be there, you will at times have an empty feeling and know you need to eat. Today for example I had a sausage patty and 1/2 of a biscuit for breakfast and about 60% of a stouffer's lasagna with meat and sauce for lunch. You can eat about a cup to cup and one-half of food at any one time. So a sandwich without anything else, a small serving of beef, chicken or fish with a tablespoon or two of vegs. or starch.
Protein is important so your diet will lean away from fruits and vegs. I try to limit bread, pasta and rice. The only foods that give me a problem are fried foods and I believe because of the high fat content Chinese food. I have no regrets and if I did not loose another pound I would be very pleased. As a self pay patient this was money well spent. I do exercise EVERY day and unlike the ladies who I know who have had the sleeve, my skin looks great and there will be no need for plastic surgery. So for one well below the weight on my driver's license, good luck!
