Blood in stool
That's not really a correct assumption. Many of us have had black stools that were not due to blood. Now, if the water in the toilet bowl is red, you have a problem, but it's most likely hemmorhoids. Contact you primary doc for his opinion on the problem with your stools. If he can't answer your question, then I would contact the surgeon. I primarily say this because I see my primary regularly and he's more likely to call me back within a day. Also, he's physically much closer to me than my surgeon.
Gosh YES! contact your pcp on this matter right away...I only stress that YES, because as a recent GI bleed patient, I know that "looking back" and seeing black in the bowl -- stool too sometimes -- can mean you've got a bleed....and mine had little to do with the WLS....more to do with my own stupidity!
See my post here titled CAUTION....

Hopefully you've contacted your doc as suggested.
I had the same thing happen around a week or two out and the surgeon's office kept telling me that blood in my stool was 'normal'. In the meantime I was getting weaker and weaker as I was losing more and more blood. I finally got them to agree to a blood test and low and behold I had an internal GI bleed. They admitted me to the hospital after my hematocrit level dropped to 22 or something. They were wanting to give me a transfusion but I refused.
Call them ASAP if you haven't already.
Just got in touch with the doc, he said it is definitly not normal for a lap band patient. I will be seeing him on Friday and will be making an appt with a GI doctor asap. The doc thinks i might have had a problem for a while.and the blood thinners they had me on just brought it out to my attention
Thanks for everyones advice
Mark
