Muchies - What's your fix?

What do you get when you have the Munchies or want a snack? Give a couple examples-  sweet, salty or crunchy etc. Me - I give into my desires and eat everything in the house - no no no that was 14 months ago. Now - Salty urge: I will slice up a couple onces of low fat cheese along with about 4-6 Low Fat Triscuits. Sweet:  I actually struggle all the time with this, although many of you will dump, I do not. So I actually drink a lot (sometimes like today, 2 pots) of Decaf coffee with Fat Free Half n Half and Sweet n Low.  It just knocks out the urge to eat something sweet.  So, how about you - what's in your pantry waiting to help with your mental hunger?  I hope this will help us all out when it comes to stuggling, especially now that all the Holiday goodies surround us. I have it down pat. Salty - Peanuts and Cashews.  Usually 1/4 a serving, twice a day or so.  And I eat slowly, and enjoy. Sweet - sugar free ice pops.  Greatest invention ever.  15 calories and taste good.  I sometimes have 2 or 3 a day Also fat free fudgesicles.  They are also quite good.  Never more than one of those though. I also drink a lot of tea - decaf of course.  I never could stand to drink coffee.

I was never a big sweet’s eater but once and while when it hits I have a few sugar free peanut butter cups (miniature). Most of my protein drinks are chocolate flavor so that keep my sweets cravings in check. My hang-up was always salty crunchy, like chips and pretzels. Now I eat soy nuts and sunflower seeds in small amounts, some times I eat a few fat free chips but not very often.

How about almonds, walnuts, and dry roasted peanuts. Also If I have to have carbs...Wheat Thins and Triscuits.  Here is alittle something if I'm feeling nauseous...Wasa Light Rye.  Alot of fiber and whole grain goodness.  Brian

Dry roasted nuts... I go through a jar about every 7 days at work. Peanut butter and wheat crackers. Sugar free ice cream (but little bits... as it comes out just as fast as it goes in sometimes). Sugar free choc pudding.

I usually have a small bag of peanuts, you know the 2 for $1.00 kind or a pouch of sugar free or weight control oatmeal. Especially if at work. Its like 120 to 160 calories depending on the brand and is sweet enough to help me out

Wal-Mart has a trail mix that I buy when I go there.  It is at the end of the produce aisle usually.  Comes in a yellow zippy bag.  It's unsalted but has roasted sunflower kernals, almonds, pepitas, raisins, etc. in it.  I'll just grab a handful now and then.  The raisins have just enough sweetness, and even though there's not any added salt, it seems to satisfy the salt cravings as well.  I really never have liked all the added salt in regular roasted nuts anyway.

I buy a large container of almonds at Sam's Club for about $10.00 and it will last a month or two. I take an oz. with me to work everyday for a snack.  I have recently found snacks by Kay's Naturals. The web site is www.kaysnaturals.com. They had samples of these at my support group meeting and they laid around the house for months till I finally tried them. They are pretty good. I read on one of Dx's posts about putting cereal in yogurt and I tried that and it is real good. They have several different kinds of snacks and they are all pretty good. I love spicy food and the chili cheese snacks, and mustard jalapeno ones and the wasabi ones are really good, they have a good kick to them.  The ingredients list soy protein isolate first. The cheapest place I have found them is www.bariatriceating.com. I did notice that they have them at Drug Emporium last night. The were $1.20 a bag.  I eat the hell out of SF popcycles, and there is a sharp white cheddar pepper cheese that I like to eat with olives.  pan head
