I went to Cox South, a large local hospital in Springfield, Missouri, only an hour away from my home. The wound care doctor and his nurses stared at my wounds with wonderment!
He recommended hyper oxygen treatment (60 treatments) in a pressurized chamber breathing pure oxygen for 2 hours per, 5 days a week...ummmm...don't think so. LOL My claustrofobia would be running high gear if I were to lie in a chamber for 2 hours. The cat scans at Barnes were bad enough, those were the two cat scans I received when I fell off a gurney (twice) in their hospital after a trach operation of which Lori wasn't told about until 2 weeks later that I was even in Barnes....mad as a wet hen is an understatement!
Anyhoo....time marches on and I'll do what I have to. My pills by mouth are starting to come out the fissular so will have to start crushing them and shooting them into my feeding tube. I had a little broth tonight with a couple of noodles and carrots, it smelled good coming out of the fissular also. The only thing that doesn't come out is peanut butter which I eat very sparingly before I take my meds.
May God richly bless you in this very special time of the year! BobM.
Bob, I thought that was tomorrow? Hope it all went well. I did all of my pills crushed and into my tube And I didn’t even have an additional exit! Hope your holes can be closed soon with the least amount of hassle. Maybe they could give you an anti-anxiety med to deal with the claustrophobia? Worth the 'ask.' Best Wishes- Dx

hey bob....
Several things....I'm gladyou are back in the loop of the decision makeing process....
that hyperbaric, it may be good, but the hour back and forth every day..plus 2 hours in there....I don;t wanna be a nay sayer, but they would have to give me some pretty good results numbers for me to sigh up with that....
on another front, the guy on the texas board, sho had all the problems with a fistula, they finaly zipped him shut 3 days ago...and all looks well...
Seems like the thick stuff hangs around more....how about oatmeal???
glad you are up at the computer
Russ
wow Barnes Hospital .. I take it you are in Joplin? My old stomping grounds .. I used to be a radio D.J. there at two stations in my youth -- spent my last night on the air ended up in Barnes with an anxiety attack (turned out I had the beginning of a duodenal ulcer!)
I hope you get well soon ("wonderment" doesn't sound good ?) .. how long have you had the fissure and where is it at? are you diabetic? that can make healing take so much longer .. !
