StomaphyX...New procedure...It really may be great??
Was reading about this new WLS procedure. Here is the link.
Don't know how good it is, but FDA approved. It seems they use general anesthesia, go down the throat with a scope devise and staple the stomach from the inside. It also can be use on WLS patients who are gaining their weight back!! This could be an outpatient procedure even. Don't know how effective or long term benifits. To me it looks interesting. Brian

I think it's only used on RNY patients right now who have regained weight. The issue with using it on a person who never had WLS, would be the same as the old stomach stapling procedure.....staple line disruptions and massive weight regains.
I don't know how good or bad this is......it's experimental, and insurance companies won't pay for it as of yet...it costs about 10 grand......and the long term results are not in yet.
I think we all hope for the day when WLS will be done by endoscopy....perhaps this is the beginning of that dream being relaized.

It does seem to be a step toward the least invasive Procedure for WLS eventually. It seems to benefit those RNY’ers who have either gotten -a slightly too large pouch to start with in original surgery -a slightly too large stoma to start with in original surgery -and those who have had "pouch or stoma" stretching issues. I have a "dot-comrade" on my other site who had this done about 2 months ago. So far, she’s doing Great. Says she’s fuller sooner, and stays fuller longer. She was in surgery that after noon, and home the next morning. If I hear any info I’ll pass it on… Best Wishes- Dx
