Energy Drinks

Any of you drink energy drinks like Rockstar or Monster? They have no-carb and sugar free versions of these. I just was wondering, I am only about 1 month post-op and am told NO CARBONATION, but I am wondering if further out if it would be ok to have one occasionally and if any of you drink them.

No! NOT FOR ME!!! I am 56 weeks out and have only tried a sip of my wifes soda at the movies and it was DISGUSTING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My doc said NO CARBONATION FOREVER and that is a rule I am sticking by! Really though, after I got over the habit of drinking the stuff, I don't miss it at all!

hey dude...they hurt me...even those tiny bubbles make me cuss.. but.....you may wanna try REDLINE...it's not at the stop and go, more like a GNC....it's non carbonated....really helps me with my work out...but don;t ever drink the whole thing...a recomended dosage is 1.2 bottle, but I can get a great work out on 1/3..hey may ask for ID when you buy it...since you have such a baby face...you have to be 18...when you divide out the price, it's about the same as rockstar... I don't recommend any carbonation any for several months post-op.  I have completely given up cokes.  But I do have an occasional (less than weekly) beer since about 7 months out, so long as I sip slowly and don't put food on top of it (I once ate part of a burger too soon after, and the discomfort of the trapped gas pushing the food in my pouch was awful).  Keep in mind, most beer is far less carbonated than soda. A lady I know pours a diet coke back and forth across two glasses like 30 times to reduce the carbonation.  I tried it and it seemed to work, but I didn't really enjoy the result. These energy drinks are essentially just caffeine.  If you need your caffeine fix, what's wrong with tea and coffee?  I've really taken to Bigelow brand "Tea in no Time" packets (at Sam's Club).  It's real tea in lots of flavors (I prefer mandarin/mango green tea), mildly-sweet sugar free, and it mixes in 20 oz of water. 1 packet has about the same caffeine as a Coke.  I'll even throw several in a coat pocket to go to the movie theater or ball game.

I drink an occasional Red Bull and an occasional carbonated drink.   They don't bother me but I may be the exception to the rule.

I drink sugar free Red Bull a couple of time a week with no problems at all.  They are slightly carbonated - less than regular sodas.  Early on after my surgery I would put the Red Bull into another container and shake it good a few times and then let as much of the carbonation as possible dissipate before drinking.  That would flatten the drink and it worked for me.  I never drink any kind of soda though.
