Heya guys... I'm back!

Thanks for all the well wishes, emails  and prayers folks! First couple of days was pretty rough, couldn't sit up without help, and had trouble walking at all. Sleep was a joke. Finally by Thursday afternoon they got the med level right, and I started feeling better.

I did come home Friday, and I'm  finally able to sit up long enough to be online for a bit.  Still really, really, really sore...  but as you all know,  that will fade as time goes on.

I didn't realize what a sexy look I'd have going.. LOL... 13 inch long incision, 2 holes for that nice latex tubing  fluid drains, bandages, and that nice big ol spandex and velcro binder/support belt (my best friend right now.. can't even sleep without it..)

I know it will all be worth it in the end, but right now I feel like asking if anyone got the license plate on that truck.

I'll be more active in a couple days or so.

Glad your home Dale. I didn't realize you were having open. I have heard that is a lot rougher than the lap. Hang in there bud, it will get a little better everyday.

Hey Dale, First- glad to see you home and on the mend.  I also had the open RNY. The open procedure is definitely more painful than lap. I slept in the recliner for a few days before moving to the bed. The pain when getting up from a chair will pass in about 10 days or so. Fortunately, I was able to walk with little pain. The more I walked, the better I felt (hint, hint).  My doctor had performed over 2500 RNY's. He said the open procedure is safer (lower complication rate). I actually chose to have the operation the open way. However, once I awoke to enormous pain, I wasn't too sure I made the right choice.  The only downside to open is that hernias are more common. That's yet to be determined with me thus far. I don't really want a hernia, but if I develop one it would be easier to have plastic surgery to have the extra skin removed.  Hope you get to feeling better.  Ronnie

phew! I was getting ready to drive up there and look for you, Dale. We hadn't heard anything and were starting to get a bit anxious to hear some news. Give it a week or two and the soreness will pass.
