Attention Runners - a Great Video Checklist
Hi Kyp,
Jim Cady is one of the most respected names in running improvement.
But another guy gave me an exercise for overpronation. He says it causes big time scar tissue in the calves from microtrauma.
The exercise is called the Stork, (from Karate Kid, the guy supposedly stands on one foot on piling off shore).
Just balance on the ball of one foot, and bring your knee up so that the thigh is parallel to the floor. Keep your foot and shoulders facing ahead and gradually take your knee right to left while balancing there. Doing this every other day while you're brushing your teeth supposedly helps over pronation by strengthening the prioceptors in the hips (the muscles that tell you where the joints are in space while you are using them and that are balance-sensors).
At any rate, balance is a big factor in effective running and it will help that, too.
Best Wishes,
Dave
