I don’t remember if us RNYers can eat oranges, I am not crazy about them but my wife just got some and I am wanting to try one but I am not sure if I should. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Not a problem I'm aware of. Try a little if it's your first time.... (little chuckle at the thought of "Citrus-Virgin.") Best Wishes- Dx

Hi Al,

I eat oranges and tangerines all the time--no problem.

I also eat them regularly. I am amazed at how much I like fruit now. Before WLS fruit was a very poor substitute for crackers, now I really enjoy fruit, and I am still surprised how sweet they taste.

I eat oranges, tangerines, satsumas, lemons, limes, grapefruits and lot of other citrus fruits.  Never had any issues with any of them.

Short answer: I eat oranges. Long answer: My doctor says don't eat oranges.  He says the little nodules can get stuck in the pouch and the acid has been known to cause ulcers in some patients.  I think a reasonable compromise is to make sure you flush the pouch with a glass of water 30 min to an hour after to hopefully push any stragglers down the road.  I also avoided them for the first few months to give everything time to heal and swelling to go down.

I just ate one 10 minutes ago and they always do just fine. I have never heard the advise not to eat oranges before.
