Any long timers still eat pureed stuff?

You've probably heard about my chicken salad staple made from chicken pureed to the consistency of mashed potatoes. I also eat grass fed lamb and beed (Aussie) that's been close to pureed. And in place of fiber supplements, I eat food processed cabbage.

I'm just a little afraid that those might not digest well enough and I figure since grass fed animals are higher in Omega 3, I'll get as much of it as I can by pureeing. Any other old timers do pureed stuff?

Hi Dave,  No, I haven't pureed anything since I graduated to solids within the first month after surgery. Honestly, I haven't heard of anyone else doing so either, but what's the harm? Personally I like the textures of food, so chewing is still part of the sensory experience of eating, which is still an important thing to me.  Regards, Joe

Hello

No I have not eatten any purreed foods since well ever!! I just could not do it. Well I guess purreed wendeys chili was not to bad. This makes since as far as getting in more protien. I have read your site and see you like to exercise. This is something I have been going through, how in the heck can I eat 1.5 to 2 times my body weight in protien everyday? I have been lifting weights for a while now and want to put on mucle mass. I seen a guy in the airport the other day  who was a body builder. He had this cooler full of baked chicken breast. All I could think was that would last me two weeks.... That was probaly just his breakfast....lol I will look into this some to see if  I can get more lean protiens down. Another good source of Omega 3 is flax seed also. I put it into yourgart and oatmeal. It kind of adds a nuty flavor.  Thanks, Derrick

OMG, NotDave   I just ran into such stuff yesterday at the local support group meeting and was going to ask on the DS forum about it ("Do RNYers Really Eat This???") ..   One of the members brought to the meeting her big 3-ring binder book that one of the major chain WLS centers gave her after her RNY ..   It was mostly recipes, and so many of them were for foods blended up in a blender ..  It really grossed me out (the worst one I saw was "Cheeseburger" - you got it, all the inrgredients for one blended up and drank!)   &;-o~~ ~ ~     No way in heck I could have eaten stuff like that as a post-op ..  guess I'm glad I went with the DS!

Hi Paul,

I don't think they have to, I do it as part of a diet plan that I have. It also gives me an excuse to eat a lot of mayo. It is real chicken salad. I have to turn the meat into hamburger to get the Omega 3 and 300 gr of protein a day.

But I can still take a dump in any restroom I want!

Dave
