Are there any health advantages to drinking green tea?? Is this something I should add to my diet?  My surgery date is Dec 4th.

There is some debate as to whether it prevents cancer or heart disease. Evidently though along with protein and fruits and vegetables, tea (green and tea, in general) were one of the immune boosting foods detailed in an article that I posted here sometime last week.

Best Wishes,

Dave

Hello Bill Well it's better than drinking soda! Right after my surgery I drank green tea and lots of it. They say thre are lots of anti oxidants in it. So keep on drinking it before and after. Just no sugar! As far as your deit just fallow what you surgeon says. Good luck with you surgery and we will see ya afterwards. Derrick

One thing that I loved to drink which contained NO carbonation, no caffeine (and very low carbs, if any) as a recent post-op was that Hawaiian Punch Light ..   You can get a big jug (1 gallon?) of it at Wal-Mart for less than $3 ..  Just put in the fridge to chill or add ice and wow ..   (someone else posted about this stuff recently on the general forum)

(dang - where are you guys finding these foxy gals of late?    did they know you pre-op or only post-op?)

And if you can find it, Sobe makes a really good sugar free Green Tea. It is part of their "Lean" line. Safeway has them 8 for 10 bucks right now. I am headed out to get some today.

Oddly enough, the feds released a study on this just a few months ago that was in the news ..   they found NO advantages to drkinking green tea (vs. other tea or nothing at all)  ..   despite all the hype about "anti-oxidants" and such suposedly in same ..   Sounds like we were all just the $ victims of yet another health food sales "hoax"  &:-(...

a potent diet beverage is GREEN coffee. bitter, but almost as good as hodia.

GREEN means not roasted, that's is all that it means.

Hell, if it is even less than 1% chance that a doctor wont have to shove his finger up my ass, I decided it was worth drinking. Than I found out not only do I like it, but I love it. It is all I drink now...

Arizona Diet Green Tea... I drink 1 - 1.5 gallons a day.

I drink a LOT of tea now - mostly decaf, with a few equals in it.  Lots of anti-oxidants (And I dont know what they do) Always a nice break from cold beverages.  I cant stand coffee, so this is my fix now.
