Help me in my despair

I am 1 month and 11 days post RNY.  I started at 355lbs and currently at 320lbs and have been there for the past 8 days. I usually eat at about 2 pm and its generally something lite such as a little tuna and  a couple of crackers. I eat again at 8 and its usually some turkey or chicken. I am not sure if my metabolism is slowing down because it thinks i'm starving my body or what. I honestly dont know what to do. Any advise would be most certainly appreciated!!!!

Sorry, Troybear, advice for what?  You have lost 35 lbs in 42 days - sounds pretty good. Your body may be at a plateau, but you will continue losing. If you are not following your Doc's and Nut's orders, then get back on track. You didn't mention water, protein, vitamins, or exercise in your post. These are all critically important, and probably have more to do with weight loss than a regimented eating schedule. They are also essential for you to stay healthy. I hope you are eating in the morning, as well, and drinking a couple of protein shakes between meals. Did your Doc and Nut give you guidelines to follow? Are you following them? Joe

Are you getting in your protein? Are you exercising? Taking all your vitamins? Your not drinking in a lot of calories from juice are you? I also believe it is important to eat more than just two times a day, though I do know that can be difficult. I am four weeks out and have just now started hitting the 5 times a day.

I feel your pain. These are the only things I could think of to ask. Best of luck Troy Edit- Btw my son has a teddy bear, he named it Troybear over a year ago. I thought he was posting!

Stalls happen. Fortunately they also pass. Get in your doc's reccomendation of protein And keep getting in more water than seems normal. Best Wishes- Dx

I am sorry, I did leave out some vital info. I am taking my vitamins on a daily basis. I must admit I don't take my protein on a daily basis as I probably shoud but its more like every 2-3 days. I do drink water and have ice religiously.

Protein is the most important macro nutrient for you right now. If you don't take in at least 60g per day, your body will start burning lean muscle mass for fuel instead of fat, and you don't want that!!! There are many ways to get in your protein, and liquid shakes can really  help especially in the beginning. I use Optimum Nutrition from GNC, but it doesn't really matter which one you use, just start  using one.

Protein is key bud. Really tackle that problem. Think about as many was as you can to get it in.

And walk, walk, walk, walk. Everyday.

That is all I have,

Troy

Yep gotta get that protein in and do so every 3 hours all day if you can.  Protein and eating meals throughout the day is what's gonna get that metabolism burning.

35 pounds is excellent for the first month though.  Nothing to be ashamed about there.

I eat about 6 or seven very small meals a day. 2 of my meals are slim fast protien bars.  1 meal is a leaf salad with a few cherry tomatoes and an olive oil vinagrette.  Dinner is 2 oz. of meat with a green veggie, Onother might be 1/2 a banana, or 1/2 an orange, or some mixed nuts.  I take 2 centrum chewables in the morning, and a calcium/vit D in the evening.  I walk 5 miles on a treadmill 3 or 4 days a week at 4 miles an hour.  I had surgery on August 21, and am 13 weeks out. and have gone from 317 DOS to 232 currently.  Because of the way I am eating and exercising, I believe that I am keeping my metabolism in high gear, and burn alot of calories.

I hope this helps you figure out whats wrong.  It sounds to me like your doing ok.

Good Luck

You should be eating more often (once every three hours) and more protein.  Eat breakfast!  That is what keeps the metabolism burning.  Good luck to you! Rob
