I've been a lurker on the Men's and GLBT boards for the past six weeks, and just wanted to dip into the pool and say hello. My RNY is tomorrow, Tuesday, 11/27/07 at 7:30AM.  Have to get to Boston's Beth Israel Deaconess by 6AM!! To tell the truth, I'm not sure whether I'll even try to get to sleep tonight; I'm afraid I might oversleep OR I'll be too excited to fall asleep. Hope to drop back on-line when they discharge me in a couple or three days!  Thanks for all the helpful discussions I've followed since I discovered OH; remember that your audience is a lot bigger than only the great group of folks who post! -- Foobear

Tomorrow when you wake up after surgery, just keep telling yourself it will be better tomorrow. The first day can be tough. One week later you will hardly believe you had surgery physically. Hydrate yourself as much as you can tonight. You probably wont get any liquid at all until the day after your surgery. Best of luck to you, Post when you get home Troy

Foo, Go have the Greatest in the morning! I hope you have a famously successful surgery and a record-breaking recovery. Hollar out when you are home and on the mend. Don't be a stranger! Best Wishes- Dx

Good luck tomorrow Foobear.   As Troy said the first day / week is gonna suck major ballz.   Just enjoy the good meds as much as you can, get lots of rest and keep telling yourself that it's gonna be better tomorrow.

My expert advice...   Insist on them giving you some liquid Demerol before you go home.   Hey you're getting your insides re-arranged tomorrow and you DESERVE it! :)    You may not even need it and you can horde it away for 'special' occasions.

Seriously good luck.  You'll be on the losers bench before you know it.

Good luck and prayers your way, Foobear.

You'll not regret it.  I'm 13 weeks out and can honestly say I feel better physically than I have for 10 years!

Yup, I too figure that you're "awake" now....and hurting a bit...but on the whole remember.... TODAY is the first day of the rest -- and BEST -- days of your life!  WLS is the most marvellous invention and the doc who invented same -- well, I'd buy him a beer or twenty just to say thanks! Get well. Listen to your doc and follow his/her guidelines. Get the protein IN and the fat will disappear....honest! And when you're home and back to reading this forum, let us all know how you're doing! Congrats too....and welcome to the postOP side of the Locker Room! :-) Jim
