Exercise - Artificial Knee

Hey Guys, I've got a quick question. I had my left knee replaced back in 2003 and would like some input as to what kinds of exercise other than walking (I'm currently doing between 2 - 3 miles a dayI can consider. My ortho has told me that I can't do any type of impact or sudden twisting due to my knee. I have a stationary bike and use it, but would like to see if someone has any other suggestions as to what I can due to help speed up the weigh loss. I'm a RNY'r and have lost 73 lbs since August but for the last week or so I seem to be hanging around 264 +/- 2 lbs. I

I would think you would be OK with an elliptical. Less impact than evan walking this those. I use one instead of a treadmill because of my knees. They give a pretty intense workout, especially when just starting so go slow (5 min.) and work your way to 30 min. or so.

Doug is correct. Our athletic trainer puts all our knee surgery on the eliptical as soon as possible. It has the least impact of any exercise. It would be fine for you. Also walking in a pool is great exercise for you.
