Buyer Beware
Every few days my wife likes to stop at one of those drive-thru coffee koisks. I've found that one in particular makes a phenomenal sugar-free hot chocolate. It's such a nice little afternoon snack with protein to boot.
But beware...
A few days ago the clerk handed me a regular hot chocolate by mistake. As we chatted over the drinks and played with the kids at the park I didn't seem to taste the difference.
Dump dump dump duuuuuummmp.

Dang, Cartrtjeman .. permission to speak freely granted! (i.e. WHICH "drive-thru coffee kiosk")?
I know Starbucks make some great caramel macchiato something or others .. but you have to be careful with those, b/c even if you tell them to "make it with Splenda" it has some sugars in it, from the caramel, the whipped cream, and I think even some natural in the basic ingredients .. If I were an RNYer, I'm sure it would make me dump too (but, being a DSer, it merely makes me gas the office up so bad even the fish in the aquarium end up swimming upside-down by the time lunch rolls arond) ...
In order to avoid mixups though, like what you describe, I always tell the cashier that I'm diabetic"(even though I no longer am) and to make sure it is sugar-free or "un-sweet" .. (that triggers little "legal liability bells" ringing in their heads - or should - and they're more likey then to pay attention to your selection) ... !

Smoothie King did that to me awhile back. I asked for the skinny smoothie where they don't put in the turbadino which is basically brown cane sugar. The skinny smoothie tastes pretty much exactly like the regular smoothie and after I finished it I got the usual hot sweats followed by the ****s, lethargy and cramping for an hour or so. I drove back and told them about what happened but they could give a **** The minimum wage college students were more concerned about what songs were on their iPod rather than getting my order correct. I can't trust 'em so I'm done with Smoothie King now.
