Thanksgiving Runagram Greeting!

Hey Folks,

I've been on the board for two years and lately have been feeling especially healthy and vibrant. Also, recently reached a new weight low.

While I'm doing my sprinting/ interval training (see the top of my profile for info)...

I work on running technique.

Working on running technique (ball-of-foot running) not only makes you a little faster, in the long run, it also helps running become more enjoyable with fewer injuries

You can go to certain running sites and have them critique your running technique.

Here are some I've done today. What I've tried to do mainly is stay on the balls of my feet, keep my body erect (booiiing!) and try to keep my lifted shin from eclipsing the one the ground:

Ball of foot running sites include:

The Pose Method of Running

Evolution Running

Stride Mechanics.

Just couldn't hold that in any longer!

Hope you are all well.

Love,

Dave

Dave! I would ask- “How’s it Going?” But obviously Great! I’m busy as He||, But enjoying it. I’m ‘On the Road’ so any semblance Of an exercise regimen is out the door, But, My hotel has a gym-room and I’ve been good about using the elliptical each morning. Last month I nearly got back to running, But my “Vacation from real exercise” continues still. But, no weight gain so I’m OK with it…. For Now. As for walking I do still get in about 10 miles a week Even living out of a hotel, But I still haven’t gotten back to my walking/running combo Of a year ago. And when it comes to weights for upper body? Nothing. Perhaps I’ll fit that rotator cuff surgery into my summer this year And get back to building… For now? Maintaining and cruising along with ‘increased activity’ Rather than actual (break a serious sweat) Exercise. You guys who do “Keep At It” are an inspiration To eventually get back to building rather than maintaining. Keep it Up and keep doing the Best for You! Best Wishes- Dx

Thanks, Dx!

Always great to get a post from you. Sounds like you're doing fine with the maintenance program. With the rotator cuff and busy schedule, no need to pu**** too much.

I wonder if something that puts shock or stress on the body (tapping the pavement or lifting heavy weights) substantially improves bone density in post-ops? If that's the case, the jog might be better. Maybe that is tough on "the cuff"? I've heard of shoulder injuries from running.

I guess my program is best for me. I'd have a hard time getting anyone else to do it though. The running form adds an interesting almost acrobatics twist to it, with the balance work and what have you.

Hope you get some relief from the shoulder soon.

Best Wishes,

Dave

Hey Dave, Thanks for the Runagram! Your training regimen impresses me as do your results. I'm not a runner at all: baddish knees and hips. I can "scoot" but only if absolutely no one is watching! I've posted an article (see above) about the effects of training breaks that you might find interesting. Your joi de vivre is infectious. Have a good one.

Hi Doug,

"Scooting?" Sounds like good exercise. Thanks, I'm feeling a lot of joi in my vivre!

I'll check out that article.

Dave
