Neighborly Drama over the weekend and some legal advice...
My main priority right now is to contact my councilman and get the "No Parking" signs taken down that are in front of my house. That's gonna chap his ass more than the vulgarities that I will be throwing at him every time I see he and his wife. Every neighbor 5 houses on either side and across the street dislike these people and I'm sure they will have no issues signing a petition to take the signs down. They equally extend their crap to everyone on the street but it seems that I'm the only one to now be vocal about it and call them out. Like I said earlier if I was having wild parties and running around naked through the streets I would undestand his disdain. That's not the case though because we have a very quiet street. My "good" neighbors and I occasionally have people over and parking space is very limited because of the way our houses are built. The people that actually park in the street don't even cause traffic congestion so I don't get the point in the first place. Nobody bothers these people but they see fit to bother everyone else and be the "keeper of the parking ordinance".
Wait... Umm... You are comparing me to some women that are drinking root beer for breakfast on the main board? Ok. That's interesting. I would hardly make that comparison but ok, I'll roll with it. I have tried the reasonable approach with these people on more than one occasion. I've told the ass clown (male, 1 each) and ass clown (female , 1 each) a day prior to what I would hardly call an event (my buddy and his wife and one other friend) that I would have a couple extra cars parked in MY DRIVEWAY from around 7PM to 10PM on a Saturday evening. (this was around a year ago I think) Now mind you I approached him while he was doing yardwork and even played the 'small talk' game before I told him about my so called 'event'. Can you guess the response? Wait for it... Waaaait for it.... "Oh, I'm definately calling the cops buddy. I'm definately calling the cops. This isn't a party street and I will call the cops and get them towed if I can." I just shook my head and walked back to my house. Now you tell me how the f* was this bothering him? CARS IN MY DRIVEWAY! If ANYONE on the planet can give me an answer to that question I will be eternally grateful. I guess I'm never supposed to have the illusive 3rd guest over because their back tire will touch the sidewalk. That's the backstory and that's where it all started. He's pulled the same exact bull**** with every other neighbor around me and around him.
Don't get me wrong, I appreciate your post Paul but alas I am a man and I am a man with a bad attitude. If some jackass that lived near you was threatening your guests every time they visited your home I bet you would have a different outlook on the situation as well.
*EDIT* Oh and as far as taking a different approach I have contacted my coucilman to get the signs taken down. He hasn't returned my call yet but I'm fortunate that he and I attend the same church and are in the same Knights of Columbus council. My neighbors aren't going to have any problems signing a petition or whatever I've gotta do to start that process. In the meantime if ass clown wants to take a swing then I welcome it. I'd never start an altercation but you can bet your ass I'll fini****
Oh it's city. The homeowners association is pretty much defunct and hasn't had a meeting or any kind of gathering in 25 years from what I understand. It's there on paper but nothing else.
The city passed an ordinance which I can guarantee wasn't really intended for my neighborhood which prohibits any vehicles from blocking the sidewalk or any cars from parking in the grass (even if it's in their own yards). The ordinance is intended for the downtown, garden district areas where the streets are narrow and a car parked in the street would seriously impede traffic. As for the grass in the yard.... Yeah, I understand that one. I wouldn't want a neighbor to park his junker in the front yard and leave it there forever. All that is fine and good but since the no parking signs got put up I cannot have guests over to my house without being in violation of the ordinance. The signs have no purpose whatsoever other than to, as my neighbor put it, prevent the street from being a 'party street'. It's just silly and aggravating to say the least. Having ass clown (male, 1 each) yell and threaten my guests every time I have a visitor just exacerbates the situation even more.
I hope my councilman can do something.
