It was tough but I did also.  It was about two weeks before the surgery and I was scared.  As soon as I finished, I relaxed and the next two weeks were a lot better.  I went in in relatively good shape as I was young, had a fairly low BP, worked out occationally and was incredibly good looking.  I figured that the % that have trouble were probably more high risk than I was.  Like I said, the letters were hard to get through but once I did, it was clear sailing with a lot off my chest.

Thanks guys.  I've said it before, and I'll say it again.. I'm glad I found 'this' forum.  It's nice to be able to throw out this kind of issue, and not just some of the 'nicey nice' stuff. Glad to know the things I feel are indeed 'common to all men' as the Bible says.  This is my first major surgery  (fixing broken nose from fight, stitches etc dont' count.. LOL)... and I've only been under anesthetic twice in my life.. both as a child.   I guess the main thing that worries me is tho the percentage of death from bypass is low overall, I know at my size the risk goes up some.  Tomorrow is my pre-admission testing, and I'll go over all that stuff with them, including the anesthesiologist.  I guess that's an issue that can be touchy too.   Anyway, Thanks again, Dale

I got a big envelope and put some letters in it as well as copies of life insurance info, passwords on my computer to access bank account information, will, trust, etc.  Oh, also I have some adult videos in a box in which I put a note indicating that they belong to one of my buddies who loaned them to me.

Its long been a tradition for the Navy Seals to write letters home just in case they didn't return from their mission. Its seems like a great idea. Certainly something i will doing would hate to not have the last word in any conversation, even about my own death.

When I was about 25 years old I was in an really bad accident and while I was recovering it occurred to me that I didn't want to leave people behind without making sure they knew how I felt about them. So, I wrote some letters to family and friends that I've added to occasionally over the many years since then. I keep them with my will and purposely try to keep the letters upbeat and simple - the kind of thing that I'd like to have gotten from friends that have passed before me.   I'd say do it. JP
