Hi Everyone,
Well, I was finally discharged yesterday just before noon.
I must say that my surgery didn't go as smoothly as I anticipated, but I am
much better today.
Upon waking up and coming too my senses I found out that they ran into
some major scar tissue around my band and port areas whi*****reased
my incision size and resulted in another insicion at the port site.
So the surgery took about 3.5 hours which is about 1.5 hours above the
normal. they must have found me to be a great learning tool for all the
students that I am sure where present or observing. The VA is a learning
hospital so I expected alot of students.
After getting to ICU my heart rate, blood pressure, and blood sugar where
all elevated resulting in a bunch of bags of stuff dripping into my veins and
two IV locations on the same hand. Ouch!!!
I was in severe pain and on a morphine pump, but it wasn't helping and
it took literally a day and a half to get a specialist to come speak with me
and make some recommendations. Believe it or not Touradal was the
magic drug in my case in conjunction with the morphine. I had severe
back pain due to my current chronic pain syndrom condition and all
the trauma my back has seen during my life. No wonder it was so
aggravated by surgery.
Anyway once the drugs where figured out the only problem was
getting them reguraly without the Touradal being lost or something
else coming up to cause my pain level to go back up again.
So to say most of my stay was miserable would be an understatement.
Anyway, I am still very blessed to have had this opportunity and that
the VA covered all the expenses. There is no way I could have afforded
it since I am still paying for the Lap band.
So looking at the big picture I can honestly say that it was all worth it.
I feel so much better today and know that I will feel better more and
more each day.
The best news of all is I weighed when I got home yesterday and have
lost 10 #'s since surgery. YaHooo !!!
Finally, I want to THANK each and everyone one of you who sent prayers
my way and supported me during this time. I really think they helped
a great deal.
So for now back to resting, sipping et****il I am feeling better.
God Bless!!
