Consult with Surgeon MONDAY

Finally, I have the consult with the surgeon, been such a long road it almost seems like it might happen now. Still have to go to war with the insurance company but at least I have the PCP and IPA behind me now. Hoping for surgery in March/ April. BUT I said the same thing in Janurary. Thanks for all your help and support leading up to this BIG step.

What surgery are you going to finally get? Weren't you looking at a two stage surgery? Sleeve first, then RNY-type bypass later? Was that it. Sounds like a boutique re-route - the best of both worlds.

looking for a VSG and I think we can get it done through insurance as a two stage DS. IF I don't lose enough with the VSG I have the option of stage II, the rerouting. Alot depends on what the Dr thinks is best.

The sleeve (VSG) seems like a good one to use to change eating habits on. If you're good at dieting and exercising, it may be the thing. Best part about it seems to be that you keep the piloric valve, so in the long run, you'll actually continue to get full. People do seem to stop losing weight earlier with that or at least the Japanese people I met with that did.

Great to hear! Keeping my fingers crossed that you get what you need this go-round! I've corresponded with a few guys who had 2 stage DS. They Love it and have done Super! Also a few who have made it on the VSG portion alone. Here’s hoping you have smooth sailing from here on! Best Wishes- Dx
