Eating to live after WLS.........
One of the true benefits I see for myself after WLS is my desire for the right foods. Pre-surgery, I was nothing more than a carbohydrate and sugar consumer with hardly any desire for anything good. These days I actually crave and love salads and fruit and vegetables. It's amazing the changes that happened. Sometimes I can't believe I really had this surgery because of how scared I was of dying on the table, but I knew I was killing myself slowly with a fork and spoon anyway.
Not sure if this fits in with the topic, but I eat every three hours like clockwork to keep the metabolism going. If I've sweat a lot, then I'll drink anywhere from 32-64 oz of water beforehand. I always make sure that I get 3-4 tablespoons of omega-3 fat (flax oil or fish oil) in the mornings. I mix it with salad dressing and eat it with cabbage and almonds (great stuff!), the roughage, I figure will help it to absorb.
Now, that's eating to live. I also get 200-250 grams of protein, mostly in the form of pureed chicken in chicken salad OR in the form of salmon sashimi.
Best Wishes,
Dave
