Centrum Chewables 5X the Dose, Anybody Know?
Hi Scott,
Definitely not happenin' with the iron, but no way to tell about the other stuff, I suppose.
2 a day sounds maybe like the right solution. Or maybe one vit a day plus calcium citrate-malate (I cut the milk about three months ago) and iron sulfate (is that the one that boosts iron the best without constipation?).
Thanks a Bunch,
Dave
You might want to check out www.vitalady.com She has some recommendations for RNYers (and DSers) in terms of what or how much you should be supplimenting. I do think the information is valuable, although I disagree on the dosage of certain suppliments for DSers.
Labs will be your ultimate key to determine if you are on track.....but I believe her recommendation for most RNYers is:
Multi, b complex, sublingual B-12, iron, and calcium citrate and zinc daily (i disagree with the zinc supplimentation unless your labs call for it). Since that seems to be the route your going....from what i've read from her...she does also suggest taking iron in the morning on an empty stomach with vitamin C, it apparently helps with it's absorbtion.
From my understanding, B vitamins flush out of a persons system relatively quickly...and it's very difficult to OD on them...on the other hand AKEKs (which are the oil soluable ones) do not..and it is possible to OD on them (although still pretty rare). This is the reason many OTC multis use a high dose of A in the form of beta carotine. In the normal anatomy, Beta carotine can be converted into A when the body needs it, in a bypassed anatomy this isn't the case, this is why people with distal RNYs and the DS need to take ADEKs in their dry forms.
Good luck on your next labs.
Scott
