Another newbie!
This is a great find! A bunch of fat guys (current and former) that can get advice and be honest about stuff. I am brand new to the whole thing. My sister actually had RNY a month or so ago and until seeing her go through the pre-op process I will admit I was one of the ones that saw this as a quick fix. I saw her stay diligent and disciplined through pre-op weightloss and liquid diet. I have watched her go through the post-op diet and have finally seen that the before and after pics only tell you those two things, before and after. They do not show you the days of measuring ounces of liquid, weeks of only liquid protein and jello. After seeing her I have decided to look into WLS. I am eager to see where I go from here and it will be easier to have a forum like this to lean on. Please feel free to check out my page, and offer up any tips or suggestions you may have for me. Thanks!
Being a loser is the greatest victory you will ever know!
Welcome....My only advice is to research every WLS that is currently available....just because your sister got the RNY, doesn't mean it will be the best WLS for you. Men (in general) tend to do better with any WLS then women. You can read people profiles, that will give you ideas of what post op life will be like further out, because I can guarantee you that what you are seeing today wtih yoru sister is not what life will be like in 1 year for her. If you go to the top of this page, you will se a forum tab...there is a subtab for each surgery type
