help leaving for er

the past few days I have been having a hard time keeping things down. I had a stricture last week and spent a couple days in the hospital. Liquids were ok at first then got prgressively harder. Yesterday I kept down a 16 oz bottle of water. stomach was off last night. took a shower this morning and started shivering uncontrolably. I did chew and spit some ice with a little pepsi in it.  checked blood sugar 92... called doctor go to er. I at a lifesaver couldnt find glucose tabs shivering subsided. Any advice?

Sounds like malnourishment, dehydration and low blood sugar. You need to get some fluids and nuritent in and soon or you are going to be in big trouble. Keep somebody or the phone close as passing out sounds inevidable. If you can't get anything down or to stay down, get back with your surgeon,...soon! You need your protein and vitamins and fluids. Kill the pepsi. Play by the rules and the doctors will have abetter attitude about your crisis and it sounds like you are at or near crisis.

They'll hook you up to an IV, it should help (electrolites [sp]).  Another scope should help.  Hang in there man...write when you can.  Brian

I tried the pepsi because my sugar was low. The dr is concerned there is an absess. I am still in the er. they did a cat scan....waiting on the results. I am convinced that low blood sugar caused the shivering.

 

What the dr said is that I have proven that I cant keep food down. he is admitting me and looking at nourishment through a pik line or feeding tube. until we can get back in and deal wiht the stricture.  It perforated last week when they dialate it.  Thanks for all the input.
