I can ride again !!!!
Nick,
So sorry to hear about your accident. There are at least a couple of deaths out here each year from cyclists getting creamed by a car. We're no match for a screaming 2 ton hunk of metal, are we? Great wisdom from you regarding wearing a helmet as I've hit the concrete several times and could have gotten seriously injured if I wasn't wearing one.
Another suggestion is to ensure your bike is in tip-top condition meaning good wheels, tires, hubs, brakes and frame. I go through a quick safety check before each ride to make sure things are ok. Briefly, here's what I do: 1. inflate the tires 2. check the tires for any cuts 3. check the brakes and pads 4. spin the wheels for trueness and make sure the quick release hubs are firm 5. examine the frame for any obvious cracks (especially important if you've been in an accident) 6. make sure the handlebars and seat are tight 7. grease the chain and make sure it and the cassette is getting too worn (one of my accidents occurred when my chain slipped when I was steaming through a light and I lost my balance). I'm glad to see you jumped back on your "horse" and I hope you are now fully recovered. Boner
