Real Men Don't Do WLS (Support Groups)
wow .. some great info there "other Paul in Dallas" .. thanks for sharing!
speaking of the Ft. Worth group, it's my understanding they co-host a big party every other month at some local hotel there in Ft. Worth .. I've seen pics and it looks like they're very well-attended (esp. by the ladies) and errr . get kinda wild .. hmmmm &;-)

Paul in Dallas is right,
I attend the Duke University monthly meeting and they are very informative. The local groups are more of a social event than informative. I have learned a lot from the folks at the Duke meetings and the shrinks, doctors, and nuts attend so they have a chance to check on me and see how I am doing at 18 months out. Plus I can ask them questions if I need to and get the answer straight from the source. The social meetings are OK but it is more of just seeing how eveyone is doing and spending a lot of time anwsering questions for nubs who are early into the WLS process. That was fine for the first six months or so but it gets old after a while so I only attend every 3-4 months or so just to check in on folks. I sure I will contiune the Duke visits but I am at a point where I have moved beyond the newness of WLS and I am way too busy living my new life. Heck, I only get by the locker room once or twice a week now if I'm lucky these days. After all my weight loss i moved from the fringes of test management to the bulleye of the middle ring of the circus. I use to manage the test effort for just one software release at a time, now I cover 10-11 at once. If I had this job at my previous 460lbs weight I would be dead now, instead I have it all covered and still spend my weekends leading mountains hikes!!
Regards,
Tim
If you go to www.asbs.org and click on the patients area, then resources, then the support group directory area, then put in Texas, without listing a city, it will pull up a list of all of those groups statewide.
I tried this, but after clicking on "resources", it pulls down a sub-menu whi*****ludes a list of surgeons, etc. but nothing about support groups .. Have they maybe deleted this info from the website for some reason (???)
