Dear friends, brothers and sisters of the faith. I arrived home yesterday from an 11 week stay in the hospital.  I have fisculars, 2 and then last night a 3rd one opened up.   I'm doing fine with my drinking but eating is another story. My question for you is, what is causing my feeling of numbness in both my arms and feet, can not eating cause it, drinking.  Neurologists couldn't find anything, all my vitals are OK, but my arms are weak. I love you all and keep the faith. BobM.

Bob

We are so glad you are home and although having a rough go, you are alive and improving.

My guess is that your weakness is that your bodyd has been through so much trama it is simply exhaused.  Not sure about the numbness.

God Bless

Chris

Dear Bob,

I'm am glad to hear that you are home and appear to be doing better.  You have been through a lot, but you are a survivor! We have been keeping you and your family in our prayers.  And, it is our hope that you continue to make progress. Unfortunately, I can't answer your questions about the numbness.  This is something that I have not experienced.

Dear Brother.... I can not tell you how happy I am to see your Pumpkin colored font... I'm not going to try to second guess a doc that has had you strapped to all types of machines... but don't discount, generalized weakness fomr the recovery, and plus you have heard us talk about fatigue during the weight loss process.. It may be something as simple and tedious as that... Well Brother..let me tell you..you have had global pray warriors sending you well wishes....literally global... I'm so glad to have you back...my work schedule is light, please feel free to chat at us as much as you can tolerate Russ

Bob, My ladies at church this morning will be all a buzz. We’ve had you on our prayer list since you first started all this. Will keep you on for quite a while. The weakness is most likely from atrophy From being down so long. I had it too. The numbness? Could be a lot of things, BUT- I had the same…. With me it was particularly in my legs and outer side of thighs. My was caused by all of the time I had spent on my back. The pressure to points on my nerves Had ‘pinched,’ or sort of "mashed" them. As I got up a little more each week with my physical therapist It "Slowly" got better. My arm lost all feeling in my right hand from my middle finger Over to where thumb connects to wrist. That was from IV damage to my Ulnar Nerve. If you’ve had IV’s in both arms, nerves could be stressed And blocked from irritation close to main nerves there. Like I said, Could be many things, that was mine. Holler out if you need ANYTHING. So glad to hear you are home. There’s still much healing ahead for you, but it’s do-able. PM me with a mailing address if you will. I’ve got some letters and such I’d like to pass on. Hope & Pray you are doing better each week. Best Wishes- Dx

Broken and humbled by the sheer faithfulness of God and his prayer warriors.  Not the same person as before the surgery.  After 11 surgerys, 6 weeks in a coma, opened from stem to stern I am tired, the fisculars worry me.  My doctor has left the practice and now I am worried that the team will break up since the main partner is gone.  Still need those prayers, love to all, BobM.

Bob, so wonderful to hear that you are home.  Man, have we been praying for you and will continue to be.  I am sure the board will relay this over and over but it is so great to have you back on the board reporting. I really don't know the reason for the numbness but I suspect it is like DXe says, just atrophy.  You are a walking miracle with everything you have been through.  What a lousy way to get more sermon material;-) How are your kids doing?  Your bride?   On the doctor, so sorry to hear that you do not have that support at the moment.  I think there is a center of excellence at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.  Is that near you?? http://www.barnesjewish.org/groups/default.asp?NavID=3752 BTW, would you mind sending to me a mailing address off board.  I'd love to send you some stuff that might minister to you. So great to hear from you, Bob.  Your post has made the day for all of us. Blessings, Greg

Hey Bob! Very glad to have you back!  We had our surgeries at the same time, and when I returned home to hear your story I was horrified and realized how lucky I was!

Praise God!!!  He really does hear our prayers. Bob, it is so great to have you back.   If the neuro-types haven't found anything clinical to explain your numbness/weakness, it is most likely simple muscle atrophy.  As you progress with therapy and exercise, you should see improvement.  If you don't you'll be able to talk more with your docs and be able to develop a more focused assessment and diagnosis. Just remember how much you have been through and remember that it still going to take time for you to get anywhere close to 100%. It is just great to see you alive and back in the locker room.
