OK guys, let's think this one out.  Those who have had RNY may be lacking in minerals.  Does it make sense to enjoy some mineral water?  Also I live about 60 miles from the Sierra Nevada and there is free water that has high mineral content there.  Am I nuts to consider getting some tap water from the High Sierra area just to possibly add some minor nutrients that may be lacking in my diet and vitamins?  Thought...Brian

Couldn't hurt.... unless some of the minerals are 'heavy metals' That people tend to avoid by drinking filtered water. Wouldn't 'count on it' as "THE" source, But should add some. I guess most important question is- What are the "minerals" in it That get it to qualify as "Mineral Water?" Best Wishes- Dx

Dx, I would think that if the water came from a tap (from some municipal water district) it would have to be approved by a state agency and the EPA.  If it carried too much arsenic or lead or other heavy minerals to the point of being unsafe, the district would have to shut the source down.  I know some polluted water is allowed in some areas (the EPA will give a district or city time to develop a new source of drinking water), but I would think there must be some regulations (esp mineral waters from Europe) that would require minimum standards.   On this board we have thought out load "are getting absorbtion of required minor elements in our diet and with our suppliments".  It just seems and occasional mineral water may help my body and could not hurt.  Just my thoughts...Brian
