Hey Guys, I was wondering how many of you get colder now since losing weight. I used to love the cold weather and now I get cold just looking at an ice cube ..... I guess it's because I am losing the excess blubber that I have carried around for so many years.

It happned to me too, but after about six weeks post-op I didn't notice it happening anymore...I asked the bariatric nurse about it at my follow-up appointment and she said it was very common and that it was most likely reltated to the anastesia which can produce lingering effects such as this for up to a month or two after a surgery....

Very common, I deal with it all the time.  I've had to buy an electric blanket.  Using alot more energy heating the house now too.  A good gift for a WLS patient...thermal underwear!  You make adjustments.  Brian

Hey Charles, very normal, I froze my ass off the first year after my surgery, and I live in Southeast Florida, of course everybody uses air conditioning all year here.  Eventually I adapted again, and now I tolerate the heat alot better too.  But I cant stand to go north to visit my family in the winter anymore.  Good luck and be well.

at 7 weeks post op, I went camping with my family and friends.  It was in the 90's, everyone was complaining how hot and miserable they were and sweating, and I was COLD!  Now at 9 weeks post-op, I am still cold all the time.

I get cold too.  I think it is your body, knowing that it is almost being starved, economizing where it can.  Same reason your hair falls out....unnecessary maintenance is eliminated.  I'm hoping that when I get to where I am taking in enough calories to sustain my weight, I won't feel cold as much.

I'm over 5 months out and am cold all the time.  I think the rapid weight loss has messed with my "thermostat".  From what the doctors office said, this is very common and will eventually get better (I guess as our bodies adjust.  In the meantime I am keeping some of my old clothes as they fit over my new clothes with no issues.  it makes it easier to put on several layers).  Not looking forward to the winter as much as I have in the past.

I used to be hot all the time.  Would run a fan at my desk in the middle of winter.  Now, I'm freezing my tail off.   Oh well, I can live with it.   Later, Dave
