Dose anyone use ZMA or know anything about it?

Someone at the gym suggested that I might try using ZMA to add to my supplements I already use. I looked it up online and it looks ok but I wanted to get any suggestions you guys may have on the stuff. Thanks Alan

When I wasn't taking as many vitamins I took it and I thought I noticed a difference. I researched it and there seemed to be some effectiveness from the Zinc and Magnesium for people who might be manourished or overtrained. I thought I felt better when I took it. Later, I started wolfing chewable Centrums all day and I stopped noticing a difference. I'm probably getting the Zinc and Magnesium (although different compounds) from the Centrums.

Another good effect was the laxztive effect from the Magnesium.

Hope this helps,

Dave

HIJACK!!!

Dave -

You just struck a chord on something I had not even thought about.........

I've been noticing a lot more frequency to toilet lately and couldn't figure it out.  I did change my vitamins about a week ago and have switched to a formula with much higher magnesium content.  That likely explains a lot of ****LOL

DUH!

Hey Danny,

Magnesium supplements = Cheapest laxative around. (well, there are cheaper ones, I suppose if you really get creative!)

Alan, I've been using ZMA for the past 6 weeks and for me the jury is out as to how effective it is for me. ZMA is supposed to increase anabolic homone levels....which means more testosterone in us fellas!  From what I understand ZMA is supposed to net results similar to creatine.  Creatine for those who do not know delivers added endurance and increased strength when used consistently in conjunction with weight/resistence training.  ZMA in it's "pure" form, the actual ZMA supplement is expensive so that has to be taken into account.  Studies have shown though that a Zinc Aspartate supplement combined with a Magnesium Aspartate of equal dosage to the pure ZMA nets the similar results.  ZMA also has B6 in the formula too.  Regular supplements we bypassers take daily should more than address the B6 dosage in the ZMA. ZMA should be taken at night for best results and it's also said can improve quality of sleep and may also contribute to increased dreams...rather vivid ones. LIke I said, I don't know how effective it actually is for me.  I'm personally sold on creatine and glutamine in addition to my protein supplementation. Cards Fan

Chris L. was completely sold on it. I tried it for a while. It helped me fall to sleep sooner, But my exercise regimen is pretty wimpy While I nurse this torn rotator cuff along. I didn’t notice a big change in muscle development, But then again, my exercise is really puny. It did seem to make me a little “perkier” in the mornings, But I only tried it for about two months. Dropped it out of my vitamin intake and didn’t notice Any change. I think if you are really building muscle It seems to have a number of folks who find it very helpful. All I got…………… Best Wishes,
