Hernia and plastic surgery just around the corner.
Several months ago I asked the doctor who did my WLS if I could have my hernia repaired before the end of the year, because I have all my deductibles and out of pocket expenses met for this year. He told me to come back to see him in October and see how much weight I have lost and if it is enough he would do the surgery. Well since that time I have been working my butt off to get as much weight off as I can to have the surgery, and it paid off. Since my last visit I have dropped almost 75 more pounds. When I first met the doctor my weight was 613 pounds and the day of surgery was 544. My weight is now 280 pounds. Well I had my appointment on Tuesday with him and he was blown away by my weight loss he said OH MY GOD you have lost 333 pounds since I met you, and 264 pounds since surgery. So I said can I have my hernia surgery now before the end of the year and he said YES. Not only is he going to do the hernia surgery, he said in order for the hernia to heal properly he is going to have a plastic surgeon assist him and remove and tighten all the loose and hanging skin around the hernia area. He also said that the insurance company’s will pay for the skin removal along with the hernia surgery because it is necessary for proper healing of the hernia surgery. Now all I have to do is meet with the plastic surgeon and get all the paperwork in order and I should be able to have the surgery sometime in December. It will be such a relief to have this hernia fixed and all the excess skin removed.

YaHoo AL! Great News! Gotta say… I resisted having PS for well over a year After my docs (3 of them) insisted I should have it. I was surprised at how much of a difference it made in feeling "Done!" Yet another- "These Clothes fit different" Adjustment to get used to, but WAY Worth it. Hope all the pre-op hurdles/paperwork crap goes shockingly smooth for you! Have a Great one! Best Wishes- Dx
