Well gentlemen.... I was completly disrespectedin my own garden yesterday... we had a beautiful day in Houston, and so the yard was gonna get is...mulch, trimming and  digging up some poor performers... well I had always been the guy with the shovel...lets face it, when you have 365# jump on a shovel, it goes in the ground... not anymore...I got a dry patch...I hopped up on this shovel, and nothing happend..it ws kinds like a pogo stick....it took several minuets for me to figure out what was happening...when it clicked...I just had to go get the pick..and swing away... ahhh the humanity russ

Russ, The way you're going, next thing you know you'll need to tie yourself to an engine block or something to keep from blowing away! Strange the way losing a whole 'nother person can affect a guy.

Haha! Russ your post reminded me of being a boy in Houston. I was 13 to 16 and my stepdad had us helping him in the garden (we had a powerline easment behind our house that allowed for a pretty big garden, approx 25 x 50). And by helping him, I mean doing some serious work. You see, he didnt believe in expensive gadgets like a tiller. He had a Grub Hoe and that worked fine for more than a hundred years. So he put us to work in a big way, looking back on it, my brother and I both still have pretty broad strong shoulders. PS dont even get me started on picking Okra, imagine the Houston heat and being fully clothed head to toe to keep that itchy stuff off you.

Tell me about being a flyweight. Try getting on a bike afterwards with all your padding gone. Yeowchh. Couldn't ride very far. and I found it uncomfortable to sit in a chair for long. Going to a movie was out of the question. I didn't blow away but now I could sneak in between the raindrops and not get wet.

I still remember one of my first big WOW moments was in the bathtub.  I've used this same tub for 18 years, I knew how long it took for the water to fill it up.  I was wondering why the heck it was taking so long??  With 100 pounds less of me, it takes forever to fill up the tub now!!  PS...I had the same problem with my shovel too.  Brian

I have had some of those moments. When you're 450 you tend to be able to do things the  smaller people can't  ie, lift patients alone, carry 3 times as much, etc.  Quite a few times I have stepped up to the palte to help with some thing only to look like a dope when I couldn't.
