Heres a few answers: 1.  Yes. I am still amazed at mine.  My wife likes it too. 2. It is much easier, and bettter I think now.. 3.  I am 24, and was 246lbs, and am down to 219 lbs now.  ( dont know that in KG) I have  a bit of skin on the tops of my arms, but thats it, everything else kinda just tightened up.  The arms are getting better, since I started lifting weights again. 4 I personally dont miss food, but I dont eat any bread anymore.  Occationally a tiny bit of pasta but I do eat a lot of chicken.  Drinking is completely different for me, its not that much fun anymore, but I had the gastric bypass (RNY) so, its possible that that is diffferent for me.  5.  I lost a ton of strength.  I didnt get enough protein each day though, so that is the reason for that.  If u you keep up with your protein and vitamins and what not, you shouldnt lose too much muscle. 6.  Everyone says I look younger than ever, Its amazing how much diffferent i can now see that I look.  It took a while before I was able to even see a difference. And thankfully, I lost NO hair, and I am 5 months out. I hope this helps a bit.

1.  Yes. 2. Very much so (it's been taking longer for some reason, but it's better and I'm up to the task now). 3. My belly is awful.  Oh well. 4. Food has been better than expected.  I eat just everything, in small amounts.  Admittedly, you will probably not each much bread/pasta after, but if you are like most of us, you won't really miss it much.  That probably sounds strange, but I have gone from being a very big pasta eater to hardly ever wanting it.  I do enjoy some bread with many meals now, though I'm not the bread-basket terror I used to be.  I go to a wine tasting once a week (about 2-3 glasses total), and have one or two scotches or beers on another night occasionally.  I get drunk really fast now.  The days of me polishing a case of beer or half a bottle of whiskey are over, but they probably should be anyway. 5. No, I've actually added a small amount of muscle.  But you have to keep protein high and work out from very early on, or you might suffer significant losses. 6. I've always looked young, and now I look younger.  I'm 30, and the girl I'm dating said she was worried when we met that I might still be in college.  Maybe as I go from overweight to actually thin, my face will sag a bit and I will look a bit older, that's possible.  But once the skin tightens again I expect to look younger.  I have lost about 1/3-1/2 of my hair.  I started with a lot so only I and my mom noticed.  It seems to be coming back now.

Hey ! Great questions. Maybe some answers…. 1. Will my penis look bigger, seriously ive got a bit of padding in that area, just wondering if others have noticed changes in that area? Yes.  On average, you can expect about 1.5 centimeters of noticeable gain for every 20 kg of weight lost. 2. Sex.. sometimes its difficult being a big guy.. hav you found this gets easier or improves after? Yes.  Increased stamina, ability, etc, etc…. 3. Skin.. im expecting to have a bit of left over skin, im currently 150 kg, i dont want to be too small, maybe 100/110 kg. im 32, has anyone had issues with lots of left over skin? This varies greatly depending on the person.  I had no excess skin on chest, thighs, etc… just a little right at my waist.  I had it removed having plastic surgery.  Evry “Plastic Surgery for Men” bit of info I have (or most) is at- http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/men/board_id,5479/cat_id,5079/topic_id,3400703/a,messageboard/action,replies/#26462762

4. Food.. Can you guys still eat. do you miss food? i.b a big chicken and salad eater and bread and pasta.rice, can you guys still eat those foods. ad ca you still consume any alcohol? I eat like a normal person who has never had a weight problem now.  I had the RNY, so I can’t tolerate sugar, but everything else is Great.  I don’t eat much Bread, pasta, and rice, but then again, that’s what made me fat to begin with.  I eat far better now and I’m full on much less.  Quality over Quantity!  An occasional glass of wine, or a scotch after dinner.    5 Strength.. i'm a big guy,im strong, did you lose any of that strength? I lost some, but was able to run a 5K since surgery, something I could never have done prior.  For strength? Check with some of these guys- AJ

CF Dave-n-Japan   6. Age/hair.. did you look older the smaller you got? how about hair, did you loose any ? I ended up looking about 10 years younger.  I’m 50.  I feel about 25 years younger.  Never had any hair loss.  Many do, but it grows back.  That seems to be a far bigger issue for the gals. I’m over 4 years post-op.  I’ve been at a normal range BMI for over 3 years now.  Keep those questions, and thoughts coming! Best Wishes- Dx

Hi,

Been pretty busy, but in response to Dx's reference, strength can actually increase, if you get your protein and other nutrition in while doing resistance training. I've never been inclined toward injury, so proceed with caution but I kept mine by regularly deadlifting first, my MO weight, then pretty far over my MO weight. So, I'm much stronger now and I'm assuming my bone mass must have stayed the same (all I do is lift heavy things and sprint, constant shock and pull on the skeleton).

Oh and yeah, same size unit on the background of a 31 waist and no fat will look impressive.

Best Wishes,

Dave

I started with 3 hard inches.  Now I have 11 soft.  It only helped me a little as I am still average. I enjoy sex much much much more now.  It may be a self conscious thing for me.  I just feel more comfortable. My stomach that is left flops around when I run.  I don't even really notice it anymore.  I am still going to pursue getting it removed this winter. There is not one thing that I can't eat now that I did before.  I will say that I just tend to stay away from greasy foods now.  No more McD's fries or hash browns.  Oh, the shame.  Can't say that I miss them.  Hooters wings don't have the hypnotic power over me that they once did, either.  For the most part, I eat every thing. As soon as the surgeon okayed it,  I started back at the gym.  Since I had very strong legs (as do most heavy people) I decided to keep them that way by doing the pertinant leg exercises. I think that I got younger looking and did not lose any hair. Good luck
Scott

1. Will my penis look bigger - looks bigger but me thinks it's an optical illusion. 2. Sex - Sex, what's that?  (my wife and I got separated a year ago) 3. Skin - I had lots of excess skin in the abs and pannus so I had plastic surgery and had it cut off.  4. Food - I can eat any and all foods but get quesy with greasy stuff and extreme sweet stuff. Don't drink much but get really sloshed much easier now. 5 Strength- I'm a big guy as well (6'4") and I'm stronger now in a wirery kind of way.  6. Age/hair.. Look 10 years younger I'm told, lost hair at first due to not eating enough protein but it all came back for the most part.  Great questions. Boner

1: "Big" changes. All good for me.  2: More and better. 3: I call myself "Mr. Flabby" now. It's yucky. 4: Keep it low on fat and sugar. And, fix the same amount fo rmyself as I fix for my 11yr. old daughter. easy breezy... 5: Due to many months of not eating or not eating well enough has caused me to lose great deals of strength. It will be a task to get it back. 6: Look younger / TONS of hair from the added protein.

Hey Guys.

Thanks alot for all the replies.. Some really positive things there..

For the guys that had lots of excess skin, and decided to get it cut off, how did it go? was it a major op? was teh recovery very long? many/any decent scars?

Also Contact Sports.. Can you guys play them after the op, and if so how long did you have to wait..

If some of you are at your goal weight, do you think you lost more than you thought you would, im 150kg ( i think 330/350 lbs ) and about 6' 2". Im very solid ( at least i like to think i am with lots of muscle making up alot of the weight ) but i cant image getting smaller than say 100 / 110 kg. Anything smaller seems like a pipe dream. and im not sure i want to get that small, so did anyone lose too much weight and have to put some back on?

Thanks guys..

My doc suggested you might bruise more easily for the first year after surgery.  That has been the case so far (seven months) for me.  I probably wouldn't want to play tackle football/rugby for the first year. To be honest, at first I thought I'd end up about where I am right now (6'0", 230).  I don't ever remember being much thinner, and certainly not for more than a few weeks.  But given I lost nearly 20 pounds last month, it doesn't look like it will stop anytime soon unless I make it stop on purpose.  Sub-200 pounds is looking probable, and 180 isn't impossible.  At first I thought I'd prefer being about 210 or so (just under my all-time low), but now I'm comfortable trying a small me for the first time. Even if you get a very effective surgery result, it's not impossible to maintain a higher weight, you just have to eat more often and eat dense foods.  But here's the thing: if you're like me, part of this "I don't even know if I want to be that small" stuff is in part a defense against the fact that it doesn't seem possible.  But as you get to 270, then 250, then 230, then 210, I think it starts to be easier and easier to imagine losing the next 20 pounds, and it doesn't seem like it'd be so bad, even if it isn't essential you do so.
