Emergency Prayer!!

Good Morning guys!!

Need some prayers. I have a friend (also a RNY guy, and a regular poster here) that is going through a living hell right now. Long story short, he is a very heavy alcoholic. He called me yesterday at 12 noon that he has not been at work for 3 days and on a 4 day binge. I went to his home and got him and spent 12 HOURS trying to find him a rehab center. As hard to believe, there were NO OPEN BEDS!!!!
We ended up coming back to my home, slept and we are about to go get in line at a rehab center.
Please pray for him that he finds the right help this time.
Aslo, he blames the WLS for some of the problem; saying he sub'd one addiction for another.

I'm praying for your friend.........and you, for the wisdom to know what to do with your friend. I spent a lot of time in a 12 step program (NA) . I got clean in 1989. If I can help PM me. If you need to talk . Some times we do substitute one addiction for another.

Sean, Got ya’ll in my prayers. Great that you were there to help him out. Addition Transfer has all the buzz from the Bariatric Community right now. The really bad part is that Moving from Life impairing Obesity Over to yet another life impairing problem Keeps a guy from enjoying the benefits Of losing the weight. Plenty of “Fixes” are out there these days, Beyond the typical ’12-step AA’ process. Lots of Psyche-Meds are available to help transition Back to a happy, sober life. Best Wishes- Dx

He is now is a teatment center. He will be in for at least 5 days doing a hardcore medical detox.

I guess what hurts and confuses me the most is that he was my support sysytem before and during WLS. He talked so high of the benefits and changes of the WLS. Now he says it was the worst thing he ever did, and if he could he would go back and change everthing and NEVER have had it done.

I really hope your friend dries out......he's in my prayers.  Please let us know if he was able to get into a rehab. Scott
