Wake up Call...

Hey ya'll I had my first visit with the surgeon's office last week and last night I had my first of four "pre-op" visits (nutitionist).  I have researched this online until I've worn out my keyboard, but, I guess having someone there actually talking to you about your own personal eating habits is what got me.   I have been eating insane for most of my life.  I've dieted of course (who hasn't!?), but I've never been able to sustain any type of feasable eating pattern.  This visit really cemented my desision about the surgery.  I need something to help me NOT fall "off the wagon".  If that means "dumping" a couple of times, so be it.   On a side note, I've been lurking here on the Men's board for a few days now.  I'm so happy to be able to communicate with other guys who can give information as it pertains to me.   Thanks for listening!

Welcome! lotsa room here for another new guy too!  Post, read and enjoy...we've got some awful smart fellas here who've been WLS patients for years too... Ask your questions, and we'll respond too! Keep nothing back and you'll do all your "due diligence" right here! And, of course, we're all great listeners too! Jim

Congrats man for taking the first step. Most of us have treid the diet and exercise routine ...and speaking from my own experience....I failed at every single diet....miserably.  Fortunately, I did not have to stay super morbidly obese.....and was able to escape that trap of loss and regain (although for me it was more regain and less loss...lol) .Also...not everyone dumps...it depends on the type of surgery ,and even if you have the RNY, not every RNYer dumps.  Good luck on your journey. Welcome! You've come to the right place--we've all been through and are going through very similar things. I understand the eating issues and am delighted to be motivated by the fear of dumping. You'll find that a great help, I think. And post RNY I eat well--variety, healthier, and actually more enjoyably than before because I feel better physically and don't have guilt about eating. Go for it--you'll be ever so glad you did!

Welcome to The Men's Room! Scroll back through some old posts, And read a bunch of profiles. It'll give you a fairly good idea How everyone is going about their own process. Also, throw out ANY questions. It's sort of like an all request station... Only as good as the requests. Yes? Best Wishes- Dx
