Pilates and a Lesson
I am over a year out and down -164, about 18 pounds from goal.
I have been trying some new exercises and returned to Pilates which I had done at 412 pounds and even a few times on my way down (I am at 248 right now).
Here is what I learned. After dinner last night I felt a terrible pain right where my new tummy probably is. I had beef for dinner (I can eat filet from time to time) and was scared it got stuck. I woke up this morning to a terrible realization. I found pilates much more difficult and realized my muscles in my stomach area are extremely weak. I figured that was just a product of the loss. Now my entire tummy is sore and it is a muscle pain. After reading up and talking to some people I realized that I was so heavy that I was doing it wrong all these times. I can now do it right and that is why I am so sore.
My wife has commented on my posture being a bit poorer since the loss. This pain has made me realize how weak my stomach muscles are. I am actually excited to see the results from this.
Additionally, I lost a pound yesterday. Anyone else use pilates?
I don't go to a studio, but I've been using Brooke Siler's The PIlates Body.
Doing core work is definitely a help to posture and general health. And yes, when you're starting out, the abs hurt a bit. But if you do it regularly, it's tough to load them up enough to get sore.
I tried it when I was six mths out and decied that I could not do it. Of the class I was i I was the only male and the only one who couldn't grasp some of the moves. felt like an idiot.
