I am only nine and a half months out but I have not had a problem with any thing I choose to eat. There has been alot of stuff that I have chose not to try.  I have been able to eat spicy food and when I say spicy I am talking habanero kind of hot. I haven't had a piece of bread for over a year. I did take a bite of my grandson's grilled cheese sandwich the other day. No pasta or rice or any thing like that. I have been able to eat about any meat. I tried a piece of KFC chicken not to long ago, I pulled off most of the bread, it was so greasy gave me the ****s couple of hours later. No real problem with sugar, but again I haven't really eaten a lot of sugar, it is something I watch.  pan head

I dump on fried foods and when I overeat. Sugar, sometimes.

Ben, Looking good bro, nice new pics did you get that blue marlin in the boat. We need pictures of the fish….. Now back to the topic at hand. I am 18 months out and I still eat pretty much the same stuff I have been eating for the past 15 months which is just about anything I want in moderation. I stay away from fried foods and do not eat a lot of processed sugar. I love all types of fruit and veggies now and I eat them at every meal. I do steak, chicken, fish, lamb, and pork bbq. I use to love all types of pork but I have lost my desire for the taste of it. I only liked fried pork chops and I don't do fried anymore. Fried foods make me feel really lousy but I don't dump. When I eat to much refined sugar I get a headache and feel like I am a sugar coma for an hour or so, but I don't dump. The smell of most fried stuff turns my stomach now. My primary beverages are water 95% of the day and 1/2 sweet and 1/2 unsweet ice tea maybe once a day at lunch. Yes I do drink a couple of beers and I do eat pizza, its thin crust and only a couple of slices. Otherwise, I eat like any normal person, I just eat a whole lot less than I use to and when I find myself starting to get full I limit myself to finishing the protein items on my plate first. This has worked fine for me and I lost 241lbs over 18 months. I have been maintaining 219lbs for the past 6 months with no issues, I also exercise regularly and have taken up hiking 10-12miles up and down mountains now just for the challenge. I plan to hike the 300 mile stretch of the NC Appalachian Trail for my 50th birthday in 18 months. I have sore joints some days as most 48 year guys that hike, play volleyball and workout on a regular basis and sometimes over do it. I gave blood on 9/11 and when the lady told my blood pressure I was really shocked. When I weight 460lbs my BP was 160/120, last month she told me it was 98/59. Also for the first time in 30 plus years my cholesterol level is below 200 now. I do feel 20 years younger but the hair is still white....

I think it depends on the surgery you have.....I had the DS and can eat and was able to eat the same foods post op that I could preop as soon as I was on fully solid foods 4 weeks post op...(DSers do not dump).  I do have the same food intollerances that I had preop....I was lactose intollerant then...and I am now.....i was intollerant of sugar alcohol then and I am now...and besides a temporary intollerance to eggs which went away after a couple of months...I haven't had any food issues. Personally I can eat anything I want in moderation including sugary foods to some extent. I've tested the water and most of the time they leave me feeling like absolute dog**** for 30minutes to an hour and a half. It sucks and I guess I'm hard-headed because I have to learn that lesson over and over again.

Thanks for the replies guys.  For those of you that have your pictures before and after up, you guys look solid.  Nice to see what can happen in just under a year. Thanks for the information.

For me the only things I can not eat is suger more than 10 grams or bread. The suger cases some very unwanted effects unless ou were constpated. The bread gets stuck. If I toast the bread I can have a little. Not much to give up when I have gotten so much more out of life now. Doug.
