Nervious 9 days out drainage

Good evening all. I had surgery last monday was getting worried about the cloudy discharge in my drain and the tenderness around one of my incision sites. Called the Drs office yesterday they had me come in. The nurse looked at the drains and said wait a minute I want the dr to see this before I do anything. Dr comes in and sends me directly to the hospital for blood work, ct scan and upper gi. The doctor told me not to leave the hospital until the hopital talked to him. They spoke and I was sent home. All the tests come back ok. The dr is still very worried about the milky discharge. They seemed to think that there was either a leak or an abcess or something when they sent me to the hospital they did not find anything. Anyway I guess my biggest fear is a leak of some sort expecially since the nurse mentioned the milky discharge could resemble a boost shake and I have been consuming quite a bit of boost. that and sugar free popsicles have been the mainstay of my liquid diet since discharge. Any advice on leaks possible reasons for the drainage. Has anyone experienced anything similar. Thanks, Jon

I had what is called a SEROMA around my largest incision that drained for about 5 weeks.  It was a yellow pink discharge.  The bariatric center said it was normal in about 20%of the LAP RNY'S.  Sometimes it would swell some, so I would get in the shower and let ho****er run over it until it drained.  They said not to worry unles it was a smelly discharge and the swelled area was warm to the touch. I'm not saying it is what you have, I am just relaying my experience. Kevin

thanks for the reply. I do see in the tubes kind of yellow liquid and what looks like a mix of blood/fat. However in bulb on the drain it appears milky tan.

You still have drains in?  My drain was taken out before I was discharged on the third day. kevin

Yes. I have two drains. In addition I have one tube coming out of the large piece of stomach. They were going to remove the drains this week but now who knows. Jon
