Okay .. I have a HUGE problem with this.  For a couple reasons.

First of all, at just over a month out of surgery, she should NOT be eating at Applebee's.  She should still be on the puree'd food stage.  Skewered shrimp, carrots, and broccoli should NOT be on the menu yet.

Second of all, if I'm eating in a way that I shouldn't be, I would expect my wife to say something.  That's part of what husbands and wives do for each other, isn't it?  Checks and Balances?  She listed what her husband ate that night .. well.. I can remember a time that I would have eaten that much and a LOT more.  That doesn't sound like a huge amount of food for an adult male to me.  It's a lot, but not an enormous amount.

Okay, and there's a third reason. I HATE GENERALIZATIONS!! I'm not "every man".  You're not "every man".  Everybody - EVERYBODY is different.  You can't lump things in and say, "Men" do or "Men" are always .  That ****** me straight off quicker than poop through a goose! Seriously!  I've seen some of these "men' behaviors that women are always complaining about in women, too!  Quite often! Okay ..   And now we know one of the main reasons why I don't participate in the (Women's) Main board. As far as I'm concerned, if she's not doing it right, she got what she deserved.  This surgery is a GIFT.  It's something that you have to treat properly to get it to work properly.  If she's eating that way already (A month out of surgery), what with the grilled shrimp, carrots, and broccoli (I can't say anything about the mashed potatos, in the puree'd stage, I had mashed potatos with protien powder mixed in.), then she SHOULD have something said to her.  She's wasting this tool.  There are so many people out there fighting to have the surgery, and people like that **** it away. It's just not right, and people like that are the reason why this surgery is looked down upon. Go ahead, flame me.  I have flame proof underwear.

I thought all men were dogs. That's what I told my daughter when she was a teenager. My wife wanted to smack me, but the truth is the truth. You know, all they,"we", want to do is sniff it, hump it and go to the next one.  pan head

Kind of reminds me of some weigh****cher meetings I went to some time ago.  Several of the woman there took exception to my success.  "He's a man, that's why he loses".  While I know that that is part of it,  I wasn't going next door to the italian place after every weigh in for pizza and dessert.  After awhile I just went for weig-ins and didn't stay for meetings.  Sorry for sticking to the program.

Please Keep Bob, Lori, and family in your Prayers.

Too funny.....we also have a Weigh****chers here and right next door is a pizza place and on the other side is chinese takeout.....go figure. Back to the issue: I have never felt comfortable or really welcomed at OA or FAA meetings when the majority in attendence was women. I had tried starting a mens only group but it was not to be. Even a mens only phone conference on one of the anonymous sites was invaded by woman, so the men left. But what I dont want to see here is an "Us" vs "Them" thing going on. Theres enough going on in our lives as it is.

There's definitely a lot of the "sheep following each other over the cliff", when it comes to diet breaking and not doing what you're supposed to the first year or so post-op. I hope that's what  we're *not* doing here on the Men's Board, that is, saying "Well, everybody does that, so can I!"

I've read the post in question, but didn't feel personally bothered by it - its just a few hens a' clucking, after all. Considering myself an expert on  women's problems, I'd be willing to wager that "Auntie Flo" was in attendance during the meal and subsequent altercation.
