All right guys, I have seen some posts regarding almonds and I was wondering in eating smoked ones is ok? Let me know your thoughts.

I'm a year out and would have no problem eating almonds, but since you're just a few weeks, you'll want to be more careful and wait until your doctor says it's ok. For the first few weeks you should avoid potentially abrasive things while you're still healing (I assume you had RNY). but later on when you switch to more solid foods, you can probably add almonds. Just slowly and well-chewed first. Dennis

Dennis, Thanks for the input. I'm trying to be real careful as to what I'm eating right now because I sure don't want to screw up the pouch. I will just keep them bagged up for a while until it is okay to eat them. Charles

I too would wait till you get the doctor's OK.  When you say smoked almonds I am wondering if you mean Smokehouse Almonds?  No, they are not OK.  They are fried and carry alot of calaries with them.  Plain, natural almonds are best.  They are out there, you just have to look.  When you are ready try walnuts too.  Also peanut butter with just salt, (no sugar) was great after a month or so.  From a former almond grower, (a can a week, that's all we ask).  Brian
