OK... I am 22 days post op, and thus far have had a fantastic journey. Last night I went out for sushi, nothing new as I have had this 4 times already since my drains were pulled. But last night, I over did it with the Wasabi, and might have eaten too quickly. I was only able to get down 2.5 peices of Tuna, the last three times I was able to eat 4. But last night I was not paying attention and was done in about 12-14 minutes. I felt really full at first.... paid my check and left. By the time I got to my car I wasn't feeling well at all, I sat in my car and all of a sudden I had this "rolling" pain in my chest/stomach that felt like someone wa****ting me with a sledge hammer, but only for 15-20 seconds at a time then it would go away... and 45 seconds later it would come back. This went on for about 15 minutes, I had to drive home as I felt this way. I wasn't sure what was next and wanted to be in my house for what ever is next. So after the cramping(is that what the pain was??) all of a sudden my mouth was watering uncontrolable. To the point that I had to use a empty Propel bottle to catch it all as I didn't want this to fill up my stomach any more then it was. About 20 minutes after I was home I felt like I needed to hurl, so for about 5 minutes I prayed to the gods of porcelian and tossed my gutts about 6 times fish and clear fluid came up. After that I felt much better but for about another hour I still felt odd and had a watering mouth. This lasted about 1 hour and 45 minutes. Did I dump? I found out that Wasabi has sugar in it and last night I really used a ton of it as my eyes were watering (I know, not smart). Man that was a freaky expeirence. Can anyone shed any light on this if I dumped, and was the watering... was that frothing? Thanks! Chris

sorry I can't answer your questions, just want to say hope you feel better.  and you'll probably want to stay away from that wasabi for a while

It sure sounds like you dumped. I was on liquid diet for three weeks after surgery, after that soft foods for four weeks. Every surgeon is different. A lot of it is trial and error. Just chalk it up to a lesson learned. pan head

Hey man, sorry to hear you got sick. To me it sounds like you dumped. I have not dumped myself that i know of but from what I know of it sounds like you did. I was on pureed diet for 2 weeks and than I was on a soft food diet (nothing hard like pork, beef etc) for 2 weeks than I was able to go to solids again. As someone said, every surgeon is different. Anyways, hope you feel better.

Congratulations.  You just survived your first FOAMIES!!! Take a few steps back, realize what made this happen, probably eating too much too fast, don't do it again.  That's the learning process of using our new tool. If you do it again on the same thing in the same cir****tances.....DORK! Take it slow and don't worry....you WILL be able to enjoy most if not all of your favorite foods again in the future. It's all about moderation. Americanized wasabi paste does have a lot of sugar in it....especially for someone only 22 days out....but I doubt you actually ate enough of it to dump on the sugar unless you are SUPER sensitive to sugar OR a bigger man than I am to eat that much wasabi!! Good luck and hang in there!

I think it wasn't the wasabi... 22 days out and your trying Sushi! I think you were begging to get sick. The wasabi on something very light as an accent flavor would probably be all right. I would think the sushi was something more solid that your body wasn't ready for, esp if you had your bites to fast. be careful yakking hot stuff is very nasty.

Live and learn buckaroo!!  This happened to me too, sounds like a dumping event.  I was actually at an OH conference in Orlando in May, my wife and I went out to a seafood restaurant for dinner.  I had a shrimp ceaser salad.  Now usually I am able to tolerate this, but apparantly the house ceaser dressing must have had sugar in it.  We left the restaurant, and by the time we got to the car I started feeling it.  We drove to the hotel we were staying at, and I spent about 10 minutes in the parking lot waiting to hurl it felt so bad.  By the time we got to the room, it all came up, luckily made it to the bathroom.  Had the same watering/frothing (foamies) issue that you had.  Within an hour, I felt 100% again. Just teaches you a lesson, if you dont know whats in it, dont eat it.  Be well. John

Thanks guys... For those cuirous about why I had this 22 days out. I actually had sushi 2 days after my drains were pulled. My Doc (2200 rny's, and has had it himself) has "soft" food once drains are out. Fish, all kinda except scallops are on the approved list. I actually have had sushi 3 times since then with Wasabi, this time however once my eyes were watering, I then added almost all the rest of the past to the lite soy... After much research SUGAR is a main ingredient next to the fake wasabi powder that is used. This coupled with the fact I ate to fast just taught me a VERY VERY valuable life lesson. Items that shock people that are on my 1st month eating list are .... Taco Bell meat, Wendy's chilli, Deli meat and fish. Officially down 50 pounds today since the week prior to my surgery!!!!! I had a pair of shorts fall off me this morning as I walked down the hallway!
