Mixing coffee with protein?

This may seem like a dumb question, but I want to be sure. I started mixing my protein powder with caffeinated coffee. Is that ok, or a bad thing, or should I switch to decaffeinated. It got to the point I just couldn’t stand to mix my protein powder mix in milk or water anymore, but now that I am mixing it with coffee I can drink it again. Thanks Alan

Hey Al I agree..I do full caffiene coffee all the time...at almose a year out I don' think it will hurt/or agrivate your pouch Adn I don;t buy that urban legend of the caffiene and it being too much of a diauretic... I know Dave does major Caffiene oh...but check to see if your protein is ok to e heated....some of the decompose in heat... but I say go for it Russ

Sometimes I just take no-doze or an equivalent from supplement sites (sports supplement), but I often drink it with ice coffee or lukewarm coffee. That's my fast delivery protein. I get a much larger portion of my protein every day from really finely processed chicken salad (figure with less digestion, it's better than full chunks) or sashimi (expensive).

I get more than most because I'm dependent on it for a large portion of my daily calories (along with lots of fat).

If you add the protein to cool coffee it won't clump up  (some folks put leftover coffee in fridge and use it the next am) or ice down a little of the hot coffee.   Then add the cool coffe/protein to your hot coffee.    Or ice it and make a frappacinno kinda thing.

I drink an assload of coffee and have no problems at all, besides being wired.  I do sometimes put a little coffee into my smoothie for a mocha flavor.

Coffee -- At home it's decaf.....At work it's FULL THROTTLE!!  Gimme a break...I'm a street paramedic.  At 3in the morning, I promise you that you WANT me on the good stuff! As far as mixing in the protein......Quoting from above....make sure that your pro mix can tolerate the heat without breaking down.  Many of them fare well if you mix them into something cold to dissolve them then slowly warm them up. My personal favorite: 12 oz Mason jar 8 oz ice cubes 2 oz milk 1 heaping tablespoon instant coffee 1 teaspoon of Nestle NSA Chocolate mix 1 Scoop of Unjury unflavored Screw on the blender base and blend the hell out of it to the consistancy of your choice. Easy way to get in a solid 20 gm of protein and it's a hell of a lot cheaper than St*rbuck&!!

I make my own hooch!  A couple pots of coffee - the more caffeine the better.  Put it in the refrigerator to cool overnight - add a bit of fat free half and half or, calorie countdown, or soy milk - then Splenda - then several scoops of Any Whey unflavored protein.  Result is a tasty iced cappuccino, fully leaded with 30 grams of protein per 16 oz serving.
