Hey All !              I have been with my employer for 11 months now and have Aetna POS II Choice. I started the whole WLS road back in April by having a physical with my PCP. I have been going to all of my appointments that the surgeon asked for and now the insurance company has been giving me issues. They stopped paying for even simple office visits and say these were pre-existing medical conditions. I need to prove to them that I had health insurance before them and send documentation.  I had health insurance for the past 12 years but there was a 3 month gap when I changed jobs. They call it a 12 month exclusion......anyone had to deal with this????HELP Thanks

I have the same exact insurance and my doctor has asked me to do a 90 day diet but the insurance say they cover it if it is medically necessary.

I changed jobs in the middle of my WLS exploritory period. My HR department droped the ball and  didn't sign me up in time after my Cobra coverage had expired. The rule is you have 60 days between policies where you can not have coverage. If you exceed the 60 days, anything prior to that is considered "pre-existing". BUT, there is only a 12 - 18 month hold on this. After the time period you can reaply. In my case, simply a new form was submitted that was back dated for the date it should have had... hint hint (if your friendly with someone in HR, you can do that and just pay the back fee's for the policy. But I had BCBS). But, I caught it in the first 30 days. I have been insure now less then 10 months with my present plan and had my rny on 8/30.
