Inflamation and NSAIDS
OK before when we had muscle inflamation from whatever, we would take an Advil or two for both the pain and the inflamation. Just wondering what RNY guys do now for inflamation. Nothing reduces it except for NSAIDS I would think. I personally would take 1 ibuprofin just to reduce the inflamation. I take it with milk before (to coat my pouch) and after to try and pu**** through the pouch to not hurt that area. Am I really hurting myself or do some of you cheat too? Do you have a dirty little secret you would like to confess??

Hey Dude,
Ok, I was given liquid ibuprophen, by my doctor, in the hospital, post RNY...that is what I take for pain....
I ask him abou the hoopla and nsaids....he said..."if yo have stomach problems before surgery , you will have stomach problems after surgery, and you should avoids NSAIDS...
If you did not have stomach problems before surgery...you can take them
this is my surgeon..all docs are different....he did my RNY, umbilical hernia, and internal hernia...and gave me advil after each, perscribed in the hospital....
the kids liquid is expensive.....but htat is what I take
your milage may vary

Hey Cabin, I take a NSAID (Indomycyn, dont know if I'm spelling it right) for my left knee, I had taken it for years before my surgery. I only take it once a day, though my scrip is for 3 times a day as needed. My doc said its OK as long as I take Prilosec once a day, so thats what I do and havent had any problems. I dont know what I'd do if I couldnt take it, probably have to have knee surgery, and surgery is the last thing I want in my life. Good luck.
