Does OH Sell Diet Scam Advertising Space?

Just wondering...

I found this one, in the beige drop-down where our profile links are:

http://tinyurl.com/37l7wo

Even though it does offer a 90 day money-back guarantee, seems pretty dubious to me.

Best Wishes,

Dave

Dave, I think they just SELL! It isn't a "not-for-profit" organization at all. OH is a company that gets prospective clients together And sells that Target audience to those with the cash. This ad- http://www.cljhealth.com/zetacap.htm was actually posted at the bottom of my profile Until I asked that it be removed. "Zeta-Caps," listed with every internet Scam alert in the country. It makes outlandish claims about how Bariatric Surgery DOESN'T WORK. I though that was a little over the top, even for a profit. Once it was pointed out to the admin here That such an ad probably wouldn't "sit well" With the tons of Bariatric Surgeons who advertise here It was removed. (at least from My Profile.  Out of site, out of mind.) The most outrageous from the past was "The Pouch-Pal." It was a plastic ball with two hoses coming out That was supposed to be used by RNY patients As a visual reminder of what would fit in their pouch. Sort of like a ping-pong ball with a couple of straws Turned into a refrigerator magnet that sold to Pre-Ops here For around $50 a pop. It was "touted" in one of those flashing ads on the mainboard as- "A MUST HAVE." Only after months of uproar from the vast majority of members and surely a drop in sales as more and more newbies were 'warned' At how ridiculous the thing was, did the item disappear From the main Board. No telling how much money was "Scammed" from the folks here. The "peer to peer" support and sharing of info is great, But sometimes the efforts to make $$ off of the Group Can be Capitalism at it's worst. Best Wishes- Dx (why I also utilize an actual NON-PROFIT Site as well)

Hi Dx,

"Pouch pals?" Sounds a little like lesbian kangaroos...lol.

Isn't it shocking how a medical site can advertsise "snake oil?"

They must be turning all of their adversing over to private contractors, is all I can figure. Literally turned into a no brainer.

I guess part of it is that the internet is still a lawless (brainless?) frontier and companies still don't have it figured out.

Best Wishes,

Dave

Come on, Dave, the site has a picture of someone dressed like a doctor at the top. How can you doubt this?

Oooowwww…Ahhhhhhhh! And it uses "nanotechnology." It sounds like a major scientific breakthrough, Until you see that they only say "nanotechnology" In the audio portion, and use their trademarked- "Nanocellular Technology™" in print. Nanocellular Technology is a $20 dollar phrase that says- Our stuff is made out of Molecules! By that standard, I have some Dihydrogen Monoxide I’d like to sell you. It’s absolutely the Most significant factor in weightloss ever discovered. In fact, without adequate Dihydrogen Monoxide Imminent Serious Health issues are not only possible, But certain! (There are also those against Dihydrogen Monoxide) Ban DHMO... Get the Facts: http://www.dhmo.org/facts.html Best Wishes- Dx

I did think of you and some of the other exercise gurus here when I got to----

Is it true that using DHMO improves athletic performance?

Absolutely! With the numerous allegations of amateur and professional athletes using anabolic steroids and/or blood doping to enhance performance, virtually no attention has been paid to the performance enhancing properties of Dihydrogen Monoxide. It is perhaps the sporting world's dirtiest of dirty little secrets that athletes regularly ingest large quantities of DHMO in an effort to gain a competitive edge over an opponent.

One technique commonly used by endurance athletes in sports such as distance running and cycling is to take a large amount of DHMO immediately prior to a race. This is known within racing circles to dramatically improve performance.

Sports-medicine physicians warn that ingesting too much Dihydrogen Monoxide can lead to complications and unwanted side-effects, but do acknowledge the link to improved performance. DHMO is not currently considered a banned substance, so post-race urine tests do not detect elevated or abnormal levels of DHMO. Best Wishes- Dx

Umm yes, it is excreted through the pores, so that even extremely high levels often go undetected in urinalysis.

Right Joe, he's promoting that long awaited metabolism pill breakthrough med that needs no FDA approval. And of course, it's herbal substances ("foods" even!) that have been around all along!

"Nanotechnology" is the meaningless buzz phrase of choice for the current decade.  It takes the place of "space age polymers" from the 1990s and the placement of the word "2000" after the product name from the 1980s. Which is a shame, since some areas of real nanotechnology actually hold huge promise for the future.  Of course, space-age polymers (synthetic plastics) were a pretty important advancement, too, and 2000, well it just sounds cool (ask Conan O'Brien).
