Boss Talk - Any reprecusions for taking time off
Well, a bit of an update on this.
I went to see my bariatric consultant and she prescheduled me for surgery on October 3rd, pending insurance approval. This seemed very quick to me but hey the sooner the better. So I went into work and told my boss that I was scheduled for surgery on that date. He looked at the scheduled and kind of groaned, said it was going to be a very tough time to cover me because someone else was on vacation. This was exactly what I was afraid of by the way.
I told him I was sorry but that is when they had it scheduled but I would let him know if anything changed. Well, I went and called the bariactric office and talked to a different nurse and she looked over everything and said she agreed that the 3rd of October was way to ambitious. I asked if I could take the next available date. She said she thought that would be best, and rescheduled for October 29th. Now I was pretty bummed that it was that long after the 3rd, but the doctor is taking a vacation during the middle of October. I suppose it is good to get him right after a nice relaxing vacation.
Sooo, I go back to my boss and I told him I had it moved to the end of October, to help accomodate him, and that seemed to make him happy. He said thanks, and that it would be much easier to cover then.
Now, there is always the thought that he could be more happy with that date because he knows I will be unemployed by then.
But I really dont think that is what he was thinking, so I feel much much better about it all now.
Oh, and I did tell him it was for Gastric Bypass, that my doctor my wife and myself all felt like it was the best thing to help me live a longer healthier life. He wished me the best of luck with it.
Thanks for all the feedback,
Troy
