Dude, thanks for your post,

I’m right at 475+lbs and I have my first consultation with the surgeon on Thursday. I’m thinking after Thursday while his office team will be working to get my paperwork in order and institute the Insurance approval. I will be asked to take my first step into new world and I getting nervous.

Knowing in my head this surgery is what it’s going to take to release from a lifetime of fat imprisonment, but at the same time fearing can I really change from the only lifestyle I’ve have ever know.

I’m already taking my eye off the prize and starting to focus and panic on what I’m going to giving up…my love, my best friend….food.

Believe me when I say your post and others like them, seriously minister to getting me back on focus.

You are sooooo very welcome.   It is truly my pleasure to share my story with everyone taking those early steps on this amazing journey.    It took me close to 4 years from my first orientation until i had my surgery.  Insurance denials, appeals, appeal denials, facing my fears of dying, my fear of living with my FOOOOOD (i totally relate to food as your friend).......   I ended up paying out of pocket for my surgery, and I'll be making monthly payments on the loan I took out for years to come - but, it was a matter of doing what was needed to save my life. Best of luck in these early stages - and remember, the surgery is a tool - not a quick fix......  Keep using the board for support, and let us know what you need............  Feel free to email me too.....    Hang in there man.....  Chuck

Hey Troy, My Doc says that 275 is my Goal Weight...........    I was 300 pounds 10 years ago and felt great, but, I really don't have a "goal weight" - i know that sounds strange, but with the conversations i've had with my surgeon, and my own history - i'm thinking that somewhere between 250 and 300 is my goal........   i'm just starting back at the gym - so, that will help me determine where i need to be.........    I will definitely keep you (and everyone on the Men's Board) in the loop.   This journey has been amazing......
