"BM's" and flax seed meal...

Let me get this straight....if I mix a couple of scoops of flax seed meal on my cereal or what ever. That will help my BM's?...I take 4 Colace a day and that helps a little, but I sure could use something else to make things smoooother if you know what I mean. I eat alot of vegies and I started eating more fruit again. The doc told me to cut down on the fruit because of the sugar content. I wasn't loosing fast enought and he thought it might be the sugar I was taking in each day with the fruit.  Dave

Hi Dave, After trying to pass my first brick I looked into the flax thing. I now grind 3 tablespoons of seed then add a 1/4 cup of oatmeal to the grinder and mix it in with the seed and then add that mix to 1 cup of skim milk and microwave for a couple of minutes. I do this every morning. for breakfast. This has kept me very regular. I had sinus/nose surgery some years ago and lost my sense on taste and smell so I don't know what it tastes like, maybe others can chime in on that. I get the seed from a farm in N. Dakota. Not sure about the "straight" thing - um.... couldn't resist....    Anyway - our surgery dates are 7 days apart, and the constipation hit me a few weeks ago HARD - ROCK HARD...........     I take 3 colace a day, cut down on the cheese, upped the veggies (i eat raw veggies with Light Ranch every day at lunch), and added a snack size bag of popcorn at night (great source of fiber)....    I also upped my water intake - even though i was getting close to 100 oz per day before - i just drink water/crystal light all day long now......   Oh - and, coffee is a given - i love coffee, but it helps with regularity (ahhhhhh...........  the coffee bean.................   what a perfect little bean......................). Ok - that's my story......   Best of luck man - this part of the journey SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  And, not in a good way................... Ciao everyone................ Chuck

Hey Dave..... the flax seeds work good...I just eat them from a cup...;or put them in some hot tea....if you eat too many you will know....things will get kinda oily in the bath room...and it will look like you crapped an ant hill...sorry.. but the couple cups of coffee...first thing in the morning...on an empty stomach...and boom....i'm done for the day.... up the exercise too... russ
